I tend to favor N and L frames, but I got interested in a Model 19. I found one on GunBroker. It isn't in the condition I normally prefer, but it would give me a chance to do a few things I might not do if it were nicer. So here is my Model 19 after I switched the hammer and trigger over to target versions and refinished the grips.

Very nice. I've gotten the 19 bug this year and have been shooting the heck out of a couple I bought. Mostly 125 gr lrn 3.4 Bullseye.

Are those the right grips? Should'nt those have Speedloader cut-out? Mine has different grips than those. Thanks, John

Very nice ,
Since there arent any 5 screw Model 19's and I didnt see a trigger guard screw.... what dash number is it ?

Dash 3 was made from 1967 to 1976 and can have 3 different style target grips.
Dash 4 made from 1977 to 1981
Dash 5 has no barrel set pin.

It's a dash 4.

For these grips after I did the acetone strip, I used pure Tung Oil. 5 coats 50/50 mix with mineral spirits and 5 coats 100% Tung Oil.

I had used the Tung Oil finish in the past, but wanted to go with pure Tung oil on these. Johnson paste wax to finish them off.

They look great, nice job! That's about what I use, but yours look better.:D

19-5

The dash 5 I just looked at, in addition to "unpinned" barrell, does not recess the cylinder. I prefer my 19-4, but I don't push it with real hot stuff.

Awesome job on the grips!

While I suppose the newer cutout grips are more functional for speedloader use but I prefer the looks of older grip style and black front site like yours.
Congrats!
