This afternoon I came home with three new (to me) S&W handguns. They are all NOS, never fired and in the original box. One is a 6" blue model 27 manufactured in 1960; the second is a 1962 built Model 36 blue snubby, round butt, flat latch. The third isn't a revolver but it's still a cool gun: a 1979 manufactured Model 41, new in the original box. The 41 I'm going to shoot. The others will only get "looked at". Here's a link to a photo of each.

Welcome aboard!

Kind of showing off, first post with pictures and snagging coveted items and perfect condition, simply amazing finds.

Was this an estate you stumbled into?

Folks here just dream of one of those in that condition every 10 years - You Sir have used up all your luck - or have piles of cash;)

The 36 for me is the winner, others will take the 27 for good reason and they are growing on me as well.

Contratulations and Wow, That's an incredible one day run of purchases. Were they all from the same guy, store, or estate?

They are all great guns but the 27-2 is an awesome find and the Model 41 is about the best 22 semi auto can find without going into very serious price levels. I have a mint new in the box Model 41 with 5 1/2 inch heavy barrel and a 1968 with a 7 inch barrel with a factory with muzzle brake in 94% condition. The 7 inch is a wonderful shooter capable of more accuracy then I can get and the 5 1/2 inch is still unfired.

Your luck day indeed

great find and enjoy

Thanks, all, for the kind words. Actually, I've been a member for about three years but just haven't posted much.

There's a gunsmith here in town who is very involved in the shooting club I'm a member of. He took in a collection of about 300 pristine old guns. Two weeks ago I sold my last motorcycle--a 1966 Honda 305 Scrambler--and decided to "turn the motorcycle into guns." These three guns pretty much shot my wad on the proceeds from the bike.

Funny thing...I was a little short on money I was comfortable spending for the deal. I decided to see if the gunshop would take my newer (has an accursed lock) 617 10 shot revolver in trade for the Model 41. They gave me more in trade for the 617 than I paid it!!! And that's after I put a thousand rounds through it. Guns are truly going up in value.

Obviously, I told my wife that bit of information (the 617 going up in value). Suddenly, she doesn't mind me spending money on clean, older guns

I don't own that many guns, but have been pretty careful about buying firearms that I like and ones that will hold their value. My favorites are pinned barrel S&W, LONG BEFORE THE STUPID LOCK. The first two firearms I purchased were a 1953 K38 6" Target Master and a Model 19-3, 6", in nickel. Those aren't for sale, either.

Thanks, again, for all the great comments.

Hard to find nicer guns. You can have a lot of fun with the 41 and the model 27. Maybe its the light and angle, but it looks like that the 27 might be a 6 1/2. That would be really cool!

The box says it's a 6". Just to be safe, I measured it--definitely a 6".
