My wife....er..."my boys"...got me a nice "preloved" SW1911 stainless, full size for Christmas. You have to understand, this was a HUGE step for my wife, who is not too keen on handguns despite my being former law enforcement and former military (there is back story).

Pics to come.

Congrats on having a great wife and a great handgun!
Maybe you should reward her and get a nice .22 conversion for it so that she can shoot it too :-)

Good for you rjpkrp! I have a 1911PD and it is great! Santa was good to me this year because I got a LMT AR15 (223) and I will be going to the range soon.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and thank you for your service!

Thank you B52Buff, and thank you for your service as well! I presume you served on or with the Buff, and it looks like back in the "glory days" of SAC too!

Wee Hooker, nah, she'll learn to fire it with the .45! Lol!

Very nice pair of Smiths there! Ain't nothin like a good woman, now you know Valentines is coming up so you should do something nice for her!(hint, hint)
Who's running the model 10? Dale

Hi rjpkrp, Yep I was in SAC and the ole Buff is still a great plane and I worked on the B52 for 3 1/2 years. BTW I still own my 1911PD ( I put down that I had owned ). The bad thing is you can only shoot one at a time but I will work in all my guns over time. You have to shoot them! Is the other gun a K19 Combat Masterpiece?

She is definitely a good woman! We don't do Valentine's day (but then again our anniversary is Feb. 19th...so I'll be very good to her then).

Actually, it's not a 10, it's a Model 12. When I was visiting my father this past Thanksgiving, he offered it to me saying that he didn't really have a use for it. He asked me if I wanted it and I told him I certainly did. It is in LN condition. I would venture to guess there had been less than 50 rounds through it when I got it. It had been shot but you couldn't tell.

I've put a box through it. It is a fun "little gun" to shoot. Not sure what my mission for that particular piece will be. I suppose for now I could use it as my CCW weapon, but I'd prefer something with a shorter barrel for that type of duty. It hangs in the nightstand for now.

You have gotten what I consider to be the best gun S&W has ever made. I bought one the first of this year and loved it so much I ordered another. Though I own other brand 1911 guns and have two customs along with one semi custom, I have given up shooting or carrying any gun other than the S&W 1911. Accuracy is beyond belief for a fatory production gun and the over all gun exceeds the accuracy, fit, finish, feel and dependability.

Congratulations on receiving a great gift that will always be remembered by you.

I can wait until Monday to go run some rounds through it. Does anyone, by chance, know the vintage of the pistol? It is a JRF0xxx serial number.

I have that same 1911, and it is absolutely a real pleasure to shoot. Very accurate and reliable. Good for you.

Why wait until Monday? Some things take priority in life.

Well, I live in "the city" and don't really have anywhere I can discharge it. So I have to wait for Monday to get to the range. Otherwise I'd have fired it by now!

Buff, you get a few rounds through that 223 yet?

The JRF serial number was problem late 2004 production or early 2005. Just a shot in the dark, as I have a JRE that was early 2004.
