I recently bought a SW9VE and went to the range. When reloading a full mag into the mag well, is it supposed to be inserted when the slide is racked? When it's not racked, a full mag needs a sufficient bump to lock it into place. When I put and empty mag in, it barely needs any force to lock it into to place. Is that normal? Thanks.

It's all good!

Yes, it's normal. When the mag is empty, it does go in rather easy. When the mag is fully loaded, it takes a little more bump to insert it all the way; quite normal.

As far as your first question goes: You can put the mag in with the slide in either position. If the slide is open (racked), closing it will chamber a round. If it is closed, then you need to rack it manually to chamber a round. Either way, it's all good!

Enjoy your new sigma!;)

If I am just loading it for carry, I usually go one round short in the mag, insert it, rack a round, remove the mag and load one more in. If I'm shooting, the slide locks back anyways, so it's easy to change mags then.

On a personal OCD thing, I don't carry 14+1, just the 14, as my brain ages its hard enough to count how many I fired, not have to remember whether this one had 14 or 15 in it, lol.

The reason is that you are compressing the loaded mag 1/2 a cartridge thickness when seating the mag with the slide closed.
It's funny to watch someone on the range when the mag drops out at the first shot...as long as it's not you that didn't fully seat the mag.

Mine does that too if you insert a loaded mag in. I was trained to lock the slide back, insert the mag, then release it forward to chamber the first round, then holster. When doing a combat reload, the slide is locked back from running dry, the release drops the mag out of the Sigma very nicely, the new mag goes in without a problem, thumb the slide release, and I'm back to shooting. You will, however, get the extra tension if doing a tactical reload. Just be sure to slam it home solidly (which you should do anyway). The Sigma works fine for me this way.

Sounds like a 'Dirty Harry' ploy.

Hi,Steve here. How many rounds does your magazine hold and can you get the full ammount into it.

9VE holds 16 +1, 40VE holds 14 +1. I own a 9VE & yes I can get all 16 rnds loaded. Sometimes it gets pretty tight though. With the double stack mags, sometimes you have to smack the base plate on your palm about 2 rnds shy of full! This will kind of settle the loaded rnds to make room to top off the mag! This is a great tip I picked up from one of the fine folks here on the forum!;) Works great!

Question- My SW9VE has 10 round mags that came with purchase. Will 15 round mags work with my gun? Thanks in advance.

Spend a couple of bucks and get an UPLULA. Works on single or double stack and the rounds go in without tension so they 'sit' right always.

Works on most mags. The only ones I've got that it doesn't work on are the real slanted mags like my .22 Buckmaster and my 9mm Luger.
