Greetings All:

New member here. I recently signed up because I am having an issue with flip-up combat sights for my M&P 15 OR.

I have tried two different sets of flip-up sights, one set from NcStar (pure garbage) and one set from Yankee Hill. With both sets, I get the same problem. The post is too high on the front sight, even after adjusting the elevation all he way down. I went on S&W's sight and saw they are rep'ing Troy's sights. When I called S&W customer service to get some specifics, the agent named Paul was rude and condescending to me. The only thing I wanted to know was what height should I purchase and I figured since S&W was selling Troy, they might be able to suggest one. To make a long story short, does anyone know the correct model number or spec's I should reference when contacting Troy?

Thanks in advance!

You are getting compact gas block sights which are taller than the regular front sights needed on your rifle which has a "same plane" gas block. Just get the standard front BUIS as if you had a quad rail to mount it on. The short rail on your gas block is the same height as the quad rail would be.

This is what you need/ http://www.primaryarms.com/product.sc?productId=56&categoryId=288

Much obliged. I have already put rails on the rifle. I assume I still attach to the gas block? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you would put it on the gas block. Yankee Hill and Midwest also make same plane front sights that will work, just avoid the gas block specific ones because the M&P provides a sight ready gas block instead of a "low profile" gas block that the other sights are made for. If you are putting a BUIS set on, mount the rear sight in the rearmost slot on the rail, just in front of the charging handle.

Mine are Troys but other makes set up similar to them.

what about magpul mbus sights are they worth getting? for my or 15.

I have seen some posts on this forum or others, where people have used the front magpul mbus sights without issue, but I think that magpul even has a statement on their website about not using them on gas block mounting due to heat issues. It is contained in the installation instructions, see: http://cdn.magpul.com/downloads/MBUS 5x7_090514_Update.pdf. I like the Yankee Hill or Troy Industries sights myself, but they are a little pricey compared to the magpul mbus.
