If you feel you need your gun in self defense and brandish deadly force is already implied. According to what I've read and been advised shoot to kill, dead BGs don't lie.

I am having a bit of a tough time understanding your response. I take it as shoot to kill, and dont worry where you shoot the BG at? I just think personally I'd rather put 3 holes in his torso rather then 1 hole in his head. So If I ever had to stand before the man I could honestly say I gave him a chance to live with the first shot, but he came at me again, and I took no chances the second time and put 2 more in him to end the threat. Thats just my personal opinion.

I have both, the SW99 and 990L .40cal and compact models (pretty much same weapon)
They both great carry guns

I bought a SW99 two weeks ago and it has been worth every bit of $299 that I paid for it. I prefer the 9mm to the .40 and I can handload great ammo for self defense. If someone is looking for a .40 there is a good one on AR15.com plus 600 rounds of ammo for $500.

I would suggest that you take a self-defense course. In addition to the legal aspects of shooting someone,they will show you where your bullets should go. I was taught the bad guy could be wearing a vest so a head shot may be necessary. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

I just picked mine up off of gunbroker for around $350, love the gun, my first .40 as I have shot just about everything else but this caliber, fits great in the hand and came with all of the accessories and 3 LE mags, I am very happy with this gun.
