Yesterday on the way to the range. I stopped at an LGS along the way, to pick up a few extra targets. I can't enter a gun shop without checking out the inventory. They had this really nice one on consignment for $599.99. I figured they didn't have much of a profit margin on it and offered $600 OTD. They called the owner, and he accepted. I could have bought one of these a few years ago from a friend for $250, gun only and not as nice. I passed then, because I thought the slide was too bulky. Two months ago, I picked up a two-tone version of the 457 and was thoroughly impressed with how well they shoot. I had to have this one too. Also, yesterday I shot it along side of my Dan Wesson Vigil Commander. It performed as well as the 1911 in terms of accuracy. Double action is smooth but long and breaks near the end of travel. Reset is super short with immediate follow up shot.

That 457 is in REALLY excellent condition and with everything it came with I think you did good.

Some years ago I also accidentally saw, (and bought,) an excellent condition with everything 457S. I didn't think I "needed/wanted" one but I was impressed with it regardless it being another "Value Line." I'm glad I got it then cause prices are climbing on them, not unlike the CS's. They are actually really nice pistols and stand up equally in accuracy with the other compact .45's that I have.

I have a Zander's , a plain Jane and another Zanders that Guzzi slicked up for me , he actually made a post on the process . Several years ago I picked up a nib 457S from here . Still haven't shot it , it's just sitting in the safe until the day I feel the urge to shoot it .

Nice find!

I really like the 45X, 45XX guns. I like them in part because they were a Smith and Wesson design. S&W making 1911s and ARs is still a little weird. And yeah, I know they shoot good. Everybody and their brother makes a 1911 and an AR.

The shortest S&W 45 alto is my 4566. It really likes Hornady 200 XTPs at 950+.

Nice find on that 457. I found one yesterday in a store no where near me, and the price is 569.00. They have a 469 in good shape for 369.00 not sure why so cheap...looks nice (i already have one). They have a 3914 for 589.00, a shorty forty for 898.00 and a 645 for 769.00. The store is Tombstone Trading in Ware MA. if anyone is interested. 3GF
