I have been drooling over having a Henry Mares Leg in 357, a
Ruger gp100 in 357, and a 686+ in 357 for a while now. Couldn't make a decision (not made of money). After thinking about it for some time, I came to the conclusion that maybe I don't really need any of them. I've got a rolling block in 357 (maker unknown) and a S&W 357 R8 already. I have several revolvers in 44 mag, 38 special, and 22/22mag. A lever action 22mag and a 44mag. A 10/22, a Mossberg 20 gauge and auto loaders in 45acp, 40, and 9mm.
So why do I want more guns? I blame it on the youtube gun reviews I like to watch. I'm looking at you, YankeeMarshal, you, Hickok45, you, Nutnfancy and several others. You are stuffing my tiny brain with new gun porn! I am an addict and you are feeding my addiction! You will answer for your sins when you (doubtfully) reach the golden gates. We will burn together!

Thankfully, I haven't got into Glocks, yet. Mine are S&W Shields in 9mm and 40 cal. Also FNX45 and FNX9. Can't shoot them worth a hoot. My training involved revolvers way back when. I find the auto loaders much easier to resist, although I sometimes wonder if a Desert Eagle is what I need to make my life complete.

Technically I have all the firearms I need, just not all the ones I want. Since I have zero interest in any currently manufactured firearm or anything mainstream all those youtube reviews don't really trip my trigger. My next gun will be one of those that has been on my list for years. Everything I lust after is old, out of production, or out of style.

I have a Sig 1911 and love it, but everybody should have at least 2 1911's. Have held and want a Desert Eagle stainless G model next.
Never owned a lever gun and thanks to Hickok45 went out and bought a Marlin 1894 in 44 mag. What a fun shooter! Now want a lever gun in 45-70 and 357 mag.
CC a Glock 26. As beautiful as a brick and reliable as a rock. Want the same thing in 45acp so a model 30S would be nice.
Having fun reloading different 44 magnum loads for a 629 4" and that Marlin rifle. This of course leads me to wanting another 44 mag. A 5" 629 sounds nice but I keep eyeing super blackhawks and found out Uberti makes a SAA in 44 mag. Decisions.
Go ahead and point me towards a gun and I'll find an excuse.:D

There's the rub, there's always an excuse (just not enough money). I can only imagine the rich guy in his castle with all of those guns. But, still, there are more out there he doesn't possess. When will he be happy?

Welp, There's no good answer for me. My latest gun envy was to get back into the 1911 category. I did that back in February. Infact I got two of 'em. The Ruger SR-1911 I've been craving and an impulse buy with the Sig 1911-22. Got custom grips on both of 'em and I am more or less satisfied for the moment.

Actually I'm kind of goin' the other way you might say. I just sold off a lot of my gun and I used a little of the proceeds to acquire the 1911s. the fact that I was able to part with my Colt LE-6920 and my Lew Horton N-frame .44 spl would seem to indicate that I'm windin' down. I'm still passionate about my guns and love to shoot 'em and look at 'em and fondle 'em but for me it got to be time to start cuttin' back. I'm happy with my current "collection" albeit pretty severely reduced.

I don't fit into either voting category , well maybe it's the lusting for years category cause it is a s&w :-)
Anyway my next purchase will be the new s&w m66 with 4 1/4" barrel
I keep thinking I need a 1911 too ...

Unless a Mares Leg fits a specific loophole in your state law , or you're going to Form 1 it into a proper SBR , they are pointless.

*IF* you like, and are satisfied with your R8 , the GP100 and the M686+ are redundent. "If" your present herd also includes a reasonably suitable carry gun , and an extreme conceal/ BUG , you don't have any glaring gaps.of quasi-practical "need" .If you decide to persue a specific competion game , or a particular flavor of hunting , then you would "need" a specilized gun for.such.

Ok , I digested for 30 seconds , and I realized an actual Gap.

This is the 21st Century. If only to be conversant with the common body of knowledge , or as an expression of soldarity of belief in the Bill of Rights , every Gun Person needs to have one AR-15 varient. Yeah , yeah , I was markedly unimpressed for decades. Until 1994.

I am still almost riduiculead as the Old Fart I am for continueing to consider them and adjunct to walnut and blue steel instead of a replacement. But every person of the gun needs to own one, and be reasonably flent with them.

I have been purchasing .22 caliber military training rifles for the past several years. My collection is growing. I'm currently looking for a Lee Enfield C No.7 Mk.1 Canadian trainer and or an English No.7 Mk.1. Both are based on the No.4 Mk.1 Lee Enfield. The Canadian is a single shot and the UK version should come with a 5 shot magazine.

A UK No.7 Mk.1 was on GB a week or so ago but it was missing the ejector, correct magazine and I am sure it had an improper bolt. I hope the guy who paid over $800.00 for it saw the same short comings.

That's a nice pair you got there..

The Dan Wesson revolver bug bit me outta nowhere. I have settled on 4 inch blue .357's as my primary interest. No matter what I drift to, I always come back to those revolvers...Smiths, Dan Wessons, Rugers...maybe one day, even a Colt Trooper...Pythons are way out of my price range.

Have been looking at Rem 870s for a while now, mostly for a police magnum or wingmaster with cosmetic issues for a refurb/refinish at Wilson's as a home defense gun. Do I need it? No...but the Model 12 is too long, too old and deserves a retirement. And (of course) a Triple Lock, and a Reg Mag, and a 657 Mountain Gun, and <sigh>
YouTube? Not an issue for me...too many wants already (and, thankfully, very few needs.) :)

At the top of my Most Wanted list right now is a CZ82. But I suppose I ought to have some flavor of 1911. If the money and an attractive example ever come together in the right place, I'll probably have one, but I still want the CZ more. The same thing could happen with a Smith Model 10, or any one of a number of Rugers.
