next gun envy

I still get a hankerin' for a SBS from time to time. I have a Stoeger sxs and an old Stevens 12 gauge sxs, either of which is a good candidate. Very practical, and the cool factor is off the charts. I would cut the barrels to about 12-14 inches and leave the butt stock long enough to use it as a shoulder gun.

We will see.

I did actually almost pull the trigger on either a S&W Sporter (I think it was called) or the Ruger 556 just last month. They were on sale for less than 550. Two things stopped me, I wasn't sure that was a good price (it was) and I wanted to read reviews of each of them (basically you won't go wrong with either one). Went back to the lgs and no more sale. The price had popped up by about 80. Oh well, next time maybe.

A 1917 Enfield, even over a Springfield '03 which is a close second. Above my pay grade just now.

A Korth and/or Manurhin revolver. Since I'd need to refinance my house to buy them, I need to do it now before mortgage rates rise. But maybe a trip to a shrink may be cheaper !!!

I don't think I've ever "needed" a gun. Well, maybe the 12 ga. pump I use for hunting everything from bunnies to bucks, but that's about it. I've still got the first one I bought in 1975.

There were a lot of them I wanted. I blame the Shooter's Bible. That was probably the U-tube of my era.

The wants come and go. I'll buy something, keep it a while, shoot it a few times, then in a lot of cases, sell it and move on to something else. I don't have any emotional attachment to any of them, they're just guns, and there is always another one.

I'm trying to convince myself, with some degree of success that all I really want are a couple of 38's to use at the range.

I don't particularly want anything I don't already have but keep money in my range bag in case a "gotta have" item comes up. I'm more of an impulse buyer at this point. The last thing was a Dan Wesson revolver in .357.

I've been lusting after a 5inch S&W .460

heck I'm down to one lung.. medium/advanced COPD...lung & liver cancer and I've still been lusting for one of these for the last year or so...... my good wife kidded me about getting one and yet at the same time was serious... She asked when was the last time I'd taken my model 29 out for a good range session.... and I had to agree with her logic.. that is the only reason I haven't traded for one......but I still want one......

I have to say I have no burning desire for anything I can think of and I am quite content with my collection as is. As a matter of fact I have actually sold more than I have purchased over the past few years. Not to say I would not buy something if it struck me as something I wanted but the new stuff coming out these days has no appeal to me.
