and I found it in my safe. My wife brought a HS Double-Nine into our marriage that she got from the ex when he said he didn't want it. It's a W-104, 5 1/2", made in 1967 and his dad probably bought it for $40. We've shot it once or twice and I wasn't really impressed but hadn't really looked at it. Took it out by myself just to try it and realized it loves CCI ammo and was doing 1" groups at 10 yards, just a bit to the left, AND the "Double" meant it was double action, though you wouldn't know it form the double action trigger weight. But it is in great condition, really nicely made, and I realized the rear sight is drift-able. Did some research on it last night and was pleased to tell the wife she had a really nice .22 revolver and it was probably worth $300 or so! She was shocked and I wonder if she'll mention the value next time she speaks to the ex. So my on and off search for a .22 DA revolver is over! well, unless/until she decides to kick me to the curb some day.....

Nice find. I have a High Standard Double-Nine that was once my fathers. He said he thinks he bought it in 1968 or 1969. I first learned to shoot a handgun with it in the mid-1970's.

Last I checked they were running in the $400 - $500 range, depending on the condition.

Own a 101 Double 9 I keep handy. It's a fun little plinker. Have it's "newer" brother shown.. and an older Sportsman that's hiding..somewhere.. I got to "tour" the closed factory before they tore it down 40 years ago. They were giving bags of stocks away.. for firewood kindling.

My wife and I target shoot on Tuesday nights. She need more round count than 10 9mm's so I offered 2 of my 22's. A 422 4" and a HS double 9 6". Her arthritis acts up with too much medium recoil round count.

She loves them and leaves my 17-3 and my 34-1 alone!

Mommy's happy (and my Smith's are safe), and that's what is really important!
