Are the nickel 39-2's factory nickel, or after market? Were the mags nickel or blue?

Yes, factory nickel 39-2's were available on the retail market. Also, I believe the mags were blue. I do not recall ever seeing a nickel 39 mag.

My first 39 was a 39-2 nickel; it came with two blued mags. (Shoulda kept that one, too!)

Hello,Crank here,My 39-2 nickel came with 2 mag's and they are silver in color.Could they be from a 639 ? I also have a 639 with the same silver colored mag. Tried to post pic's ,but looks like I'm not to smart about posting pic's.

I have an '81 nickel 39-2. It was LNIB purchase and came with two S&W marked blue 8 rnd mags. The finish description on the box says nickel. Hope I could help.

I owned a gun shop in the 1970s, and all the Model 39-2s, whether blue or nickel (factory offered both finishes, but produced mostly blue 39s, with nickel 39s comprising the distinct minority of production), were supplied with blue magazines. I kept one NIB for many years, until it was lost in a burglary. I recently replaced it with another nickel 39-2, which, of course, has blue mags.

I have a nickel 39 no dash shipped in 1960 (confirmed in letter) and it has a NICKEL magazine that I cannot determine if factory or not. Anyone know about the old 39 mags?
