Something doesn't jive with that serial number. A 19-3 should have a K prefix. Even if yours had a K prefix, according to the numbers, it would be a pre-19 made in 1948.
If you are getting that number from the bottom of the butt, see if there is a prefix on the left of the numbers, separated by a space.
thank you all for your help. the gun is in really nice condition and i was just wondering how old it may be.i really like this style of revolver and wish smith and wesson would go back and make them again without and modifications.i am sure they would sell like pancakes.wonder why when they have a good thing they seem to drift away from a sure fire winner and throw the dice on something no one wants.they should read these forums and follow you all's advice on their new products.after all it is people like you all in these forums who are buing the product.and the quest seems to point toward older designs.thanks again for your time. tommy
