Did the factory ship Model 24s with Nickel Plating?
Did the factory reissue the Model 24 after the original run?
Thanks

A model marked Model 24 would be rare beyond measure. I am not sure any were made. In 1983 a run of 5,500 Model 24-3s was made but they are mere shadows of the original 1950 44 Target Model (Model 24). Later the 624 in stainless came out. I have never seen either a 1950 or a 24-3 in nickel.

1950 Target 44s could be special ordered with a bright blue or nickel finish at extra cost. Bright blue revolvers are scarce and those with a nickel finish are rare.

Model 24s with a 4-screw frame are very rare, but a few have been documented.

I discovered that this one was shipped in 2007. I hadn't realized Smith reissued this model as part of their 'classic' series.

S&W made the first 100 Model 24-3's factory engraved with smooth walnut stocks and silver medallions in the grips. Of the 100, 25 were nickeled.
