Double check the eye relief to insure that the front ring mount stays on the upper receiver rail and does not mount on the fore guard rail........Twisting the fore guard may move the POA.

Deiseldad758.......That is why I bought the NcStar 3-9x42R ($80).....8 inches long...They carry a variety of "tactical scopes"...I won't pay $150+ for a 22 cal scope that I will only use for general paper and plinking......If it craps up in a couple of years I will look in Walmart hunting accessories and order another one.
Look at Mueller too.
I think the P22 is underpowered. It really should have been 3-9x40, and I think the Prostaff 3-9x40 BDC150 is a better scope, and you can easily find it for $150.
Regarding length, 12 inches is about as short as you can make a variable power scope of that power. If you find a similar scope that's shorter, the difference in length will be negligible.
Here is a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 mounted with rings. My plan is to eventually get a Quick Disconnect one piece mount, and a red dot and be able to easily switch between the two.
