Anyone out there drive a Nissan Frontier pickup truck? Do you like it? Any negatives? I am considering buying one and would appreciate any feedback. Thank you very much...

There's a commercial of one doing barrel rolls and skiing down a mountain. What more can you ask for?

I had a courier business up north and one of my friends made me buy one before going to look at a Toyota. I put 234,000 miles on it with only the usual minor repairs, tires, brakes etc and it still ran like new and never used a drop of oil. I was going to keep 'til 500,000, but needed a bigger car and sold it to a local lanscape guy here and as far as I know it's still going. Secret was I changed the oil every 3,000 miles.

I was looking at pickups for the last 3 months till I found an 09 Silverado 1500 LTZ I liked but the frontier was right up there...personally I'm glad I went with the full-size. Fuel economy between the canyon/Colorado weren't that much better if any, although I think the frontier is a few up on those in mpg.

In talking to others and looking online though I saw nothing but good things said about the frontier...Nissan makes great stuff! Especially like the pro4x edition.

What's the truck going to be used for mostly/typical driving and activities for you?

Frontier

Bought mine in Jan 2000 new, it has 109000+ miles on it, replaced tires at 60k, water pump at 86k and brakes at 107k. Still trucking although headliner is beginning to come loose. Its a 4wd SE model. Everything works and its 12 years old. Whats not to like.

I hate them because my Wife would not let me get one or a Tacoma.;)

When I ran a service business we had one of the original Nissan small trucks with the dual spark plug engines. Bought it used. That truck had the you know what run out of it.

Oil changes??, they were done when the dip stick would not read any oil or it looked like tar. Never did a thing to the truck other than batteries and brakes.

I saw a original Datsun truck the other day!

bought a 2001 desert runner traded it in last year on a 2011 tacoma it was a good truck had almost 250,000 moles on it never did get great gas milage never even put a water pump or any thing on it, brake pads and a few head light bulbs and a battery. how my tacoma holds up this well.

Mostly will be used here on my farm and for hunting. Live way back in a woods so need the 4X4 to get out in winter. Thanks for all the feedback...

Haven't had a Frontier but have had three. Nothing but good. Still have the 91 model with 114K miles on it. My great grandson gets his license in Oct. and am giving it to him.

2008 FRONTIER

Bought this one in 2008. Almost 45,000 miles and hasn't missed a lick and NEVER let me down. Of course, I keep all the service up to date. Got a free flat screen TV with it and 'lifetime' tires', as long as I keep the service up. She will head out West for a 3 month trip this Summer. :) Cap is an 'ARE', special ordered. Trick Trucks fixed me up with it. She has done some 'real' 4 wheelin when I got off the beaten path as well. The 'so-called' better brand name wouldn't even talk about the cap. I could of had a Titan, but didn't feel I needed it. :) The dealer here in Winchester is super to deal with and has a customer for life. Easy to guess where I will go in a couple years when I am ready to replace the old Santa Fe.
Oh yeah, I checked on my last trip in December to the Gulf Coast, 21.5 MPG
AND__ MADE IN TENN :)

Great looking truck JR!

Pharman, I think you can see you're gonna have trouble finding a bad word about this truck.

But being on the Chevy bandwagon now...like I said I too was in the market for a midsize truck, but am most definitely appreciating the full-size silverado and it has run over anything I have put in it's path so far! Love the instruments/interior etc.

I'm am very happy I went with this over the f150, and glad I got mine over the frontier too(cuz the extra room)...but if it wasn't the rado it would've been the frontier for sure!

Been thinking about one, too. My Pathfinder has 125K on it and it's only an '07. Nothing wrong with it, just doesn't look "new" anymore. Put in batteries, brakes once and a tune up at 110K.

A guy at the trap club has an extended cab and let me look his over a couple of weeks ago. It had all the stuff in it one would normally have in a vehicle and that rear seating area looked mighty crowded. Jump seats, too.

I didn't like it.

But, the four door seems much more roomier, though one gives up some bed length. I might get one, put a quality cover on it to secure my guns and shells (better than in the back of my Pathfinder) or I could drive my Pathfinder a couple hundred thousand miles more. ;)

Decisions!

Bob

I have a 2006 at my job......LOVE it!

Get one with the 4 liter V6.

Had two older ones, both went 300,000+.

I've got an '07 with a hair over 70k on the clock. I've replaced tires once (the OEM set went about 26k), pads twice, rotors once. Oil changes every 5,000 with Mobil1.

I just replaced the radiator a couple weeks ago. They (like most other makers) are using the plastic-frame/aluminum core setup, and some VERY hard ruts in the pasture tweaked things just enough to cause a small leak.

Other than that it's been rock-solid and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Prior to my 2005 Frontier, I had a Toyota SR5 (old 4-banger). It went 289K, sold it to my mechanic. Went to a RAV4 and a Dodge Ramcharger (all 4x4's). Then we went to the 2005 Crew Cab 4x4. Not a lot of miles but it runs great. We wanted to stay with Toyota but dealers wanted 10K more than the Nissan and would not even talk about negotiating. Looked at the Dakota but the Nissan had it beat. We have the 275 hp V-6. Great in the snow (12" this week). Liked it so much, we got the wife a 2001 Pathfinder (used). It only has 175 hp V-6 and is a bit sluggish on the hills.

We put a tool box in the back (bolted to the bed) and keep our winter survival/first-aid kit in there.

My 1997 is quite a dependable machine, bought as a "Program" car in 1998, loved it ever since. An Old man who frequents the same restaurant has a 1992, claims to get 35MPG with an automatic transmission. He tells me he has to drain some gas out every few days. They are good but not that good! You will not be sorry.

Bought mine new in 1999, and still drive it every day. Been on cross country trips, hunting trips, etc. Just change the oil and filter and stuff like that. Carried me out of every mess I ever tried to get myself into. Don't know about the new ones.
