NJ case may be going to SCOTUS

It's certainly a disappointing development, but it's not the end of the world. Peruta is still floating around in the 9th circuit awaiting a decision on an en banc rehearing. If granted, that will extend that case by a year or more. If the 9th declines a rehearing, the state will have to decide whether or not to petition for cert. to SCOTUS.

The 9th Circuit has ordered Gore to indicate if he supports the Petition to Intervene by the AG in CA.

There are three other cases at the District Court level that address the same issue. The problem is that it will be years before they complete the trip through their respective Circuits and even get to the SCOTUS level. One of them is a DC case that has been sitting awaiting a decision since 2009.

If anyone would have sufficient need to carry I would think John Drake would be at top of the list.

I'd love to hear the justification the libs come up with for those they sponsor for carrying. Could make for an interesting conversation.

And I do not see our direction as some may through their rose-colored glasses. I look at where we are today and it is not nearly as friendly as 40 years ago.

In 1986 25 states were "May Issue" and 16 states were "No Issue" and "Shall Issue" only 9. I'm not sure how that can be friendlier (CCW wise) than the current "Shall Issue" of 37 states and "No Issue" - zero.

I won't disagree there are a few matter that are improved but on a higher level look what you have to do to buy a gun today v. 40 years ago, carry in a vehicle, cross a state line, etc. I knew several LEO's but never heard stories as we do to day (not just because of the internet) but being stopped, detained, vehicle searched, vacation luggage searched, family embarrassment at roadside...

That is not better from my view.
