I recently mailed a pistol to Smith&Wesson for repair.I have had the pistol for many years. I waited around 4 weeks and they sent it back to me NO CHARGE. They installed a new slide. I never paid a cent. They paid shipping to and from by FedX. I really can't believe it. Have many of you had this experience? Let me know Thanks in advance.

That's called ''good will''. You will note it is working:). You posted this where a lot of previous buyers and probably buyers hang out. Word does get around.

My one experience with S&W CS was when my 642-1 broke its hammer stud. I sent it back to S&W and they gave me a new one, replaced under warranty. I didn't have to pay shipping either way and they reimbursed the FFL dealer NICS fees (it was a new gun, so it had to go through a FFL).

I believe S&W has Smith Forum lists:

One list is of forum members who have
not complained about old or new guns,
lock or no lock.

The other list is of complainers and if they
have a problem, they are flagged when they
call CS.

I believe a former CIA/Homeland agent works
for them and finds out, despite the pseudonyms
of members here, who the good are and who the
naughty are.

If you've been naughty, you're going to pay!

I have NEVER had ANY issues with Smith, Ruger or Beretta when I sent guns back for various reasons. Fast turnaround, no charge, sometimes even if it was my fault. Of course it could have something ot do with the letterhead......:D

A couple of weeks ago the magazine release on my E series 1911 blew out the side.
Called S&W CS, the representative at S&W said he would send me a complete assembly. Said it could take a couple weeks. Four days later two complete magazine release assemblies were in my mail box. S&W service is good to go!

they fixed my screw up no charge and paid shipping both ways GREAT SERVICE

Only used S&W CS 2 times, second time they kinda misplaced my gun, but made it up to me with a free t shirt, set of grips, and a factory box.

I believe they do what they can as best as they can. Stuff happens, and you see a lot of negative threads. Not many post about good experiences.

Nice to hear!
