If you lived in Homestead Florida and nearby, when Andrew hit, you would understand why AR's are necessary.
BPVs are nice as well, along with lotsa fresh water.... 50 gallons during storm season.
No civilian really needs an AR-15 rifle but if they have the money to buy one and they want to buy one.

I just looked and there is only one option of ammo available for my AR15, at 2.40 per round. I only have enough powder left to make 6 more rounds and I still need to do some testing in April. Guess I will have to make the several hundred I already have make it threw until the world returns to the newer normal.

Yeah, I don't get all the gimcracks and gewgaws folks hang on their guns these days. There are guys shooting at 25-yard indoor ranges in my area with ARs festooned with scopes, lasers, flashlights, and all sorts of stuff that Eugene Stoner never thought that rifle needed.
Alvin York (anybody remember him?) killed 25 German soldiers and took another 132 prisoner with a bolt-action rifle and a 1911 pistol...just sayin'...
