No love out there for certain polymer pistols

I think LVSteve is on the right track. What used to be considered “medium sized” guns like Commanders, Glock 19s and Sig M18s are pulling their weight as duty guns. The old 5”ish guns like a 1911, M9, and even the Hi-Power are range guns. And carry guns are the little fellers.

As others have noted, sales now seem to be mostly small carry guns. Hence the P365 and its ilk.

Big polymer guns are neither fish nor fowl. Seems like a recipe for slow sales.

From what I've seen on recent drug busts the boys still prefer full sized glocks and chopped stock "choppas". Nobody told them that one can just unscrew the stock

Have a Glock 43x and can actually shoot it fairly well.
Not sure if I can buy and shoot enough Ammo to get completely comfortable with the Trigger!
Looking at Sigs. 365x or 365xl?
Plain 365 just not enough grip.

I have nothing against Polymer guns and my S&P 9mm M&P 1.000000 is loaded and ready for home defense. No question, 20 years old, it is a great handgun. I looked at several others before the prices went crazy and before the kids were in college and would really like an M&P45 M2.0 in Flat Dark Earth (SKU 11769), and an M&P9 M2.0 in Flat Dark Earth, and of course a 10MM, but not now and it may never happen.

My NOPD son tells me the hot set up for street shooters these days is a small to medium sized gun with an extended magazine. This is from a murder in his district two days ago.

But they’ll use whatever they have. Yesterday he ran down some carjackers and their gun was an FN .40 cal. Probably stolen but not in NCIC. Juveniles, so they were catch and release.

Been watching a bunch of estate and clearance actions this weekend. My hands are numb from me sitting on them.

One thing I have noted is that Joe Public has decided that Glock prices for polymer guns are nonsense. Yes, I know that Glocks work and have a huge support and lots of accessories. But for many who just want to buy a gun, it looks like many buyers are not convinced that a polymer gun by a "Top Tier" manufacturer (for want of a better term) is worth the premium.

Once again, the Internet is the most likely reason. With minimal research you can find die-hard Glock or S&W fans testing more budget friendly guns and coming away impressed. Some that spring to mind are Caniks, Stoegers, the Ruger Security 9 series, and even some of the latest Taurus semi-autos.

So, which brands/models are suffering depressed values in this customer revolt. My observations suggest:-

CZ P-10, the F model especially
Beretta APX, especially the fullsize
Walther PPQ in longslide form
Glock 34/35
Sig P320 fullsize
S&W M&P with the 5" barrel
Springfield XD Tacticals

A common theme seems to be that anything with a barrel over 4" sells more slowly. Even new 5" Caniks often sell at VERY reasonable prices at auction. Even 4.5" barrels are seen as "too big" judging by the prices I paid for the last two, under $350 each even after shipping and fees.

Honestly trying to ascertain if there was a coherent thought in the initial post.
What do "estate actions" have to do with consumer demand for polymer pistols, of which GLOCK is by no means the only one? Just another Glock basher coming at it from a different direction is what it certainly looks like.

At this point Glock isn't even close to being the only player in the polymer field. S&W has been working overtime to close that gap, as has been HK, SIG, SA, Ruger, S&W - the list is endless.

Not a fan of the plastic gun, but I appreciate the Glock for its utility, cheap mags of varying capacities that fit several models, aftermarket support and they work. Not interested in owning any other brand.

Cheap guns are not good and good guns are not cheap. I carry a Sig XCompact for duty and a P320 Wilson for off duty and sometimes a CZ P01 or a shield. Props to those who buy the more budget friendly guns. I may be a snob but I won’t own a Canik, Taurus, or a budget gun. Most of those are clones so why not just buy the real thing.

I’m a Beretta fan and own a 92,96 and 2 APX (full and centurion). For carry I switch between a 3913 and the APX full size. As soon as I get a holster for the Centurion that will be my go to

Many people dislike the Walther Creed based on looks alone. I wanted a “full size” 9mm to reside in bedroom. For the price they are (were) an absolute steal. Very accurate and never a malfunction of any kind. Reliability wise I’d put it up against any other polymer. I paid $315 on sale with a coupon from Cabelas. I’ve seen like new ones sell sub $300 on GB. I mean c’mon it’s a Walther!!!!!

I think the Creed became unpopular because of the separate feed ramp came off the barrel for a few people. There also seems to be a peculiar dislike for concealed hammer pistols among the buying public. Many seem to think they are more unsafe than a fully cocked striker gun.

My SD carry compact, is a Poly, that I will not miss if taken away.

My 5" target pistol is a shiny, stainless, Nickel finish, that will stay mine, hopefully.

I think I'm the opposite of most of you guys that owned B(g)locks back when. My distain for Blocks lasted a long time. I tried friends' 19's, 22, 30, 17's and just felt weird since I was brought up on BHP and 1911's. I prefer steel, but over the years found some other brands of polymer that I liked well enough.
Several years back I tried a 34 out at the range with some work done and was not offended.
So after decades of trash-talking Glocks, I got one. It always runs, there are aftermarket parts galore, the mags are cheap, plentiful and work. I don't hate it.

Not giving up my 1911/2011's, but if someone offers up a deal on trade-in G23.... I might could be swayed;)

OP, the firearms you mentioned have never been really popular...

As a used gun, I would imagine they would go fairly cheap.

The general observation is correct--that polymer guns in general have lower resale--but this is due to a couple reasons ranging from the billions (/s) produced, reduced price points for new and CCW continuing to outsell standard.
