I am wondering if anyone has a picture of a 6906 with the mag baseplate from a 5900 series in place of the pinky rest that comes on the 6906 mags.

Also I really would like to know if anyone knows where to source the 5900 series baseplates without having to buy a 5900 series mag that will become a paperweight once you switch the baseplate out.

I think you can still buy the base plates from Smith and Wesson

Yeah I saw that but that is not what I was looking for.

That post shows an adapter much like X Grips that slide over the 5900 series mag so that when you put the 5900 series mag into the 6906 it looks better astheticly. Without that adapter you can still put the 5900 series mag into a 6906 it will just look like the mag is hanging out of the gun 3/4 of incho or so.

What I was looking for is I know some people took the acctual baseplate off of a 5900 series mag and used it to replace the pinky rest baseplate of the 6906 mag. In effect it made the bottom of the 6906 perfectly flat.

From the S&W parts list. You might want to order several and think of some other things like springs to buy to offset the shipping cost which I believe would be around $8.00.
062600000 $3.01 MAGAZINE BUTT PLATE - METAL (Model 659)
203470000 $3.01 MAGAZINE BUTT PLATE PLASTIC (Model 5906)

Where can I find a parts list????

Is that the but plate for the 5900 series mags??

Also are they the same part just one is metal and the other is plastic? Or is it where the metal piece is inside of the mag and the plastic pice sits on the outside of the mag??

Well I ordered a 5900 series baseplate for one of my mags to give it a try. The problem is that the baseplate off of the 5900 series does not line up with the frame. A good 1/4" of the plastic piece projects forward to the point where you either have to place your pinky over the projecting piece or under it.

I took a dremel and chopped off the 1/4" so now the mag lines up with the frame but it was a PITA and I have sanded it some but it is still going to need some more work to make it look right.

Are there any other baseplates that could possibly be used on a 6906 mag that would line up with the frame and not have the pinky extension on them?
