No lug 586

I have always wanted S&W to build a 4" 586 without the full length under lug. I would like a Model 19 barrel profile. Essentially I want a 4" model 19 on steroids. It will handle a whole bunch of magnum loads better than a K frame. Round or square butt, I don't care. I won't even complain about MIM or the "hole".

The full length lug is the reason I never got into the L-Frame. I suppose the MIM and hole are the reason I won't ever get one.

Take a 686 and have a good gunsmith mill off the front part of the lug and thin the barrel contour just a bit. If you have the smith round butt it and bevel the front of the cylinder, it will look just like the one I have in my safe which is a cool gun.

Smith did make a stainless verison of what your asking. It was called the 619/620. Both 4" but one fixed sights aka L frame Model 65 and the other adj sights, L frame Model 66. I forget which model was which. And both were 7 shooters.
