No Mag Disconnect AND No Warning on Slide

Hello,

Recently picked up a brand new M&P... at first I thought it had a magazine disconnect because there was no warning printed on the side of the slide.

Well, I quickly realized that there is no magazine disconnect after all. This is a brand new firearm - this a case of Smith putting the wrong slide on during assembly?

Wasn't sure if others have heard of this happening...

Thanks.

I know, I know...we all like warning labels! But as long as you know that's what matters...the gun and the ammo don't care...and the bad guy won't notice. One less mark on your gun.:)

Sounds nice, I don't care for a mag disconnect just one more thing to go wrong and can't stand all the "lawyer" warnings on guns. I have a New Model Ruger single action and that poor thing must have half the safety manual stamped on the barrel.

First post.

Wild claim.

No pictures.

You guys do what you want.

Hey, I have an M&P with no warning label and no mag safety too.

You just pop out the lever and it's gone. ;)

At least this thread wasn't started with the usual first post about how the gun blew up using factory ammo with the first shot fired and S&W won't fix it under warranty. This is usually followed with the OP saying they have no idea what ammo did it because he keeps his ammo in a bowl and throws the boxes away. He also has seven different brands on hand. The S&W lifetime warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

It's entertaining around these parts tonight.

What I hate is to get a beautiful gun only with a bunch of mess stamped into it messing up that beautiful gun. I hate lawyers.

What I hate is seeing the S&W Classic revolvers which are supposed to be collectible models such as Dirty Harry's gun having the stupid key hole right above the cylinder release lever. That's messed up as the originals were not built that way. GARY

I'm glad my Shield does not have that warning. If you need that warning you should give some serious thought about having a sidearm.

Ok.. here is my 2nd post.

Not sure what makes this such a wild claim? Thought it was a simple question to a group that would have some feedback.

Pictures? You don't know what a slide looks like without the warning? Didn't think a picture was needed to describe my question.

Sorry I don't have 3700 posts...

Thanks to those who helped. I'll just assume it was a miss at Smith during assembly.

It's possible that the potential mistake in slide labeling will continue to haunt you every time you pick up the pistol. Call Smith and see if they will send you a label. You can send the pistol in and get the slide switched out for a properly labeled one. It is the best and right solution. :)

I see it as a simple question not a wild claim.

S&W makes a lot of M&Ps. Is it possible for them to have put a slide without the warning on a gun without a mag disconnect? Absolutely!

Like others, I think the warning is silly. Safety is in between your ears, not on the gun.

Maybe it HAD a disconnect and the LGS thought it would be easier to sell without it, so THEY removed the lever?

This isnt likely a miss at S&W. They purposefully make different versions of he same model for the varying needs of their customers.

This is obvious when you see the models with or without the thumb safeties.

Go to the Smith site or grab a catalog and you will see all the variations in the M&P line.
