I've had a few RC colas, Frostie Root Beer, Diet Rite, Big Red and Mountain Dews. After receiving my driver's license, I was able to get a job at the local RC bottling plant in my home town of Jackson, TN.
My first job there was on a route truck. After two weeks, I was transferred to the plant. I learned how to run the bottle washing machine and other machines used in the bottling process.
I almost lost my right index finger in the mixing machine. The drinks, after the carbonated water was added, were cold enough to drink. There is nothing quite like the taste of a fresh RC.
My employment in the soft drink industry continued through college with Summer and holiday jobs as a relief/fill in driver for Coca Cola. Everybody, during that time period, was happy to see the "Coke Man" (not to be confused with "da coke man") and the big red truck.
I know every back road and country store (that used to be there) in West Tennessee from the Kentucky state line to the Mississippi state line. I have a nice four inch scar on the upper right portion of my chest from a 64 oz. returnable bottle to remind me of those fun days!
