My wife asked me to stop by Walmart while I was in town this afternoon and pick up a package of Sharpies, the felt tip markers. I went to self-checkout but when I scanned the barcode the screen said I needed an attendant to approve the item.

The young attendant who came over had to verify that I was over 18. I asked why. She replied that it is illegal to sell sharpies to anyone under the age of 18 in Texas. Again I asked why? She replied, “I don’t know, I didn’t make the law.”

HOLY COW!!! It’s a package of Sharpies not a box of ammo.

I thought about this on the way home. Like cigarettes, if I buy a Sharpie for a minor, am I in legal trouble?

Grafiti is the main reason I suppose. that said, Sharpie's are everywhere! I've got them in my office, Workshop, Garage, Kitchen, Car, and probably some in other rooms I forgot about. Anyone who wants one will easily get one. I know the kids are more than smart enough to order them online - and save money to boot! Feel good - - do nothing law! What else is new?!!

I carry a sharpie in my pocket all the time, buck brand with a 4 inch blade. Use a case brand sharpie to gut a deer if I get one. Had a boy scout sharpie when in scouts. Maybe this was what she thought she was checking? nah, that would take reasoning power.

Our lawmakers have been adding laws to the books for 241 years. They've already written laws to cover all the obvious stuff, then they covered the stuff that made a little sense sometimes, and they were wondering what else they can write laws about. They each hold pens everyday, and the light went off in one of their heads ... It was a no brainer.

I had to get a clerks "approval" in order to buy a nail clipper. It had a folding nail file bayonet thingie so I guess it was an assault nail clipper

I must be a straw purchaser and the school is the ring leader. On our 4th grader back to school supplies list, it included 4 sharpies........should I call one of the alphabet agencies to self report?

Just think of all the children who are being "saved" from a life of crime by prohibiting them from buying Sharpies! I'm sure we will soon see headlines stating that "Sharpies Used in Mugging." Bad words were written on the forehead of a person.

SHARPIES

Kids now-a-days don't know what they're missing;) Heck, back in the early 60's ( my Jr.High days), rolling a box of those little Jaw Breaker candies down the aisle at the movie theater was great fun:D They must have been outlawed( they have become a vile corruption of our youth:mad:). Don't even see them in the candy section anymore. Sharpies will be next:eek:
