Mid-70's when I was first hitting the streets most gunshops had a box of used saps in the corner. You would see them tucked into the flashlight pocket of many older officers.
Today, we are far too sophisticated to use such a trudgeon. We use SWAT instead.
Trudgeons in the hand of someone who wants to inflict damage in a beating are are a bad idea (that guy should not be in a uniform anyway). But, if the person you are dealing with is overpowering you, they can give you a better chance of surviving the fight.
I think you need to be spunk for even saying out loud that you thought you would pass on that one!
I'm very glad you came to your senses and brought that baby HOME!
The threat of someone else buying that beauty was just too much for you to handle? That would have gotten to me also. When you get the first shot at one like that you must take it. Congrats.
I've got the 3&1/2 27 I would love to have the Berns- Martin to go with it. I have a left and right pair for a matched pair of 4" 29s but I don't wan t to modify one for a 3 & 1/2 .Always looking for Bern-Martin holsters or rigs for my collection. Nick
A VERY nice catch. No wonder your wife rolled her eyes. Have you made a folder for it yet? That is the most "likes" I've seen. And you can cook too? You just bought the Filet Mignon of S&W revolvers. Dave, thanks for sharing your good fortune. DLB
Slightly off topic, but not really, I've found that the best way to reduce drool effects on keyboards is actually Saran wrap. Really, just slap a layer on your keyboard before you click on threads like this, and all is well.
The ONLY reason I have resisted a Smith & Wesson Model 27 with a 3.5 inch barrel has been a shortage of cash. No self respecting fan of S&W revolvers can blame ya' for giving in to the pleasure of owning that beautiful 27 you now own! Congrats and thanks for the photos!
