Just received my order cancellation notice (Winchester Wildcat .22RF) from Mr. Potterfield (Midway) that I just ordered last month. First he sent me a notice that the ammo would be in stock by March, then April, then November, now cancelled.

I STILL have other items on order and requested just last week that they all be shipped at the same time. Received a notice this morning that the one lone $26.00 item was already shipped and the freight cost more than the item!

I suspect that later in the day I'll receive notices that the rest of my back orders are also cancelled. The man has obviously gotten greedy, selfish an rude all at the same time!

I have had it with Larry and won't do business with his Midway USA Company anymore. You know what he can do with his many pair of Hunting Boots!!!!!

End of rant

NOTE:

Just received another cancellation notice on the remainder of my order (CCI Mini-Mags). I suspect that many of you will also get greetings from Larry today or tomorrow.

You aren't the only one unhappy with Larry.

Is it possible that they CANT GET that in stock so instead of stringing you along month after month (which you will also complain about) they just cancelled everyone who ordered that.

You live in NY, right?

Do you know about the unSAFE Law regarding loaded ammunition?

Midway, like ALL other online retailers, is not shipping ammo to NY unless it goes to a dealer. That's the law. No commercial outlet is going to ship ammo to you directly until the court cases play out.

Put the blame where it belongs, not on Larry, but your state politicians.

His shipping fee's, and habit of sending backordered items one at a time(with individual shipping costs each time), are a whole 'nuther story.

I also had order cancelled so I re-ordered using my vacation home in Kentucky as the shipping address that was cancelled also because I could not guarantee the ammo would not be transported into NY, that is just silly.

This ammo WAS NOT being shipped to NY nor was it ordered from NY. As much as I hate the new NY Safe act policy, this has nothing to do with it!

Arik, that is using logical and reasoned thinking. Can't do that.

I've been a little peeved with them also. I ordered a set of Ed Brown thin grip allen screws for my Colt Mustang since standard length screws go into the magwell but thin grip screws work fine. Midway charged me a $3 service fee along with shipping. OK, someone pulled an order out of a bin in the warehouse, stuck it in a 29 cent envelope and Midway paid a couple dollars to UPS which still left you a profit on shipping charges. Then you add a $3 fee on top of it because my order didn't total up to a certain amount? I mean $3 isn't that much but it's kind of the principle of the thing. I know someone will ask why I ordered from them and I'll tell you. It was because they rounded up for the NRA (hope they get the round up). From now on, I'll send the money directly to the NRA and shop elsewhere.

I've done business with Midway for over 20 years and have always had a good impression of the company.

I'm fairly certain that they had every indication that their stock would be delivered as reported to you in their estimated shipping times, then found out that their suppliers could not deliver, so they did the only thing possible and notified you that they could not fill the order.

Easy to understand your disappointment in not receiving what you need or want, but I can't support slamming someone doing their best and telling the truth.

We've all gone through several years of extreme difficulties in obtaining ammunition and reloading components. Some suppliers have acted in good faith (truthful about inventory, delivery times, etc) while others have not (price gouging, accepting orders and payments then failing to perform, etc). I prefer doing business with those who demonstrate good faith and good business practices.

Best regards.

I don't know what Midway shows on their web site (I'll check later) but another supplier shows CCI Mini-Mags not available from the manufacturer. You might take that into consideration.

Yep

Sounds like the opposite experience I had when I ordered custom parts for my car - one of the parts I had ordered was not in stock so they gave me the option of waiting until the part I ordered was in stock to ship the entire order - or for no extra cost to me I could have the upgraded version of that part and have everything shipped immediately. Easy decision to make - get the better item sooner at no extra charge.

I ordered something from Midway last year, forgotten what, a mag loader perhaps. Any time I am shopping online I want to know any and all shipping and tax charges before I place the order and certainly would not want those to charge after I place the order.

Received an e-mail yesterday about my backorders.

1 - Unknown
2 - Overdue
3 - 6/30/2014
4 - 8/22/2014

Not looking too good so far.

I can't hold Larry responsible for that. An besides it is a trivial issue. A bet there are plenty on here that will disagree with that but when we look at the big picture. Nox Nix. Makes no difference. If he doesn't have it he can't ship it and he can't reasonably be expected to keep millions and millions of back orders.

just sayin'

If they're not willing to fill back orders then they shouldn't take them in the first place.

There is a cost to doing business and that includes losing business due to your business practices and policies

22 ammunition has been in severe shortage mode for a long while now.
I am disappointed, but can understand Midway's position. They likely make backorder determinations based upon what suppliers tell them.
If he can't find the ammo to sell, don't blame smiling Larry.

I haven't seen 22LR (other than a few boxes of super premium stuff) in retail stores for a long time. Where is current production going???

Got my letter from him yesterday about NOT shipping ammo to NY. my next email was a notice that the bullets that I ordered yesterday were shipped, 500 rounds, just the bullets. Good so far right? The freight on 500 bullets was 20 dollars. Again that's just 500 bullets, 200 grain, 45acp. 14 pounds roughly. seems expensive to me..
