Now an old school ugly N frame contest

Howdy

How about Bing? This is my barbecue gun. HE 44 3rd Model, over polished and refinished with stag grips. So ugly I couldn't pass it up.

Or for lots of honest wear and incorrect grips, this 38-44 Heavy Duty from Sept 1930.

Or for moderate wear and tear, this 44 HE 2nd Model from February of 1921.

Like a reference to a really ugly woman, this one is a double bagger.
Brazilian model of 1937 .45 ACP. It shoots good, despite the most shallow rifling I have ever seen on a firearm. Don't know if it's wear or was made that way, but it still engraves and spins a bullet OK. :)

The story was that it was recovered from a fatal truck rollover scene by the Sheriff. I can't verify that.

That means STOLEN by the sheriff, using his badge to justify his commission of a crime.

BTW, Timetripper's revolver isn't ugly. It just has vitiligo.:)

I don't have an N frame but I have a 10-6 that got very ugly while sitting in an evidence locker.
It actually looked a lot better in the store, before I got it cleaned up at home.
I paid less than 200 bucks for it, so I can't complain.
Plus, it shoots very well.
It's the one I call Ugly Betty.

Down here we call it "hit twice by the ugly stick."

But the finish on that gun rises to "the whole d--n tree fell on her!"

How 'bout this purty ugly 1917?

Have not decided whether the plan was to cut it to the locking lug, for looks, or to get rid of the US PROPERTY because it was stolen. And the torch for the silver solder for the front sight did such a nice job of removing the blue from the barrel.

I don't think you guys can spell UGLY! This the most ugly gun in my stable of 44HEs and she still shoots like a champ after I rehabbed her innards! This is her 2nd contest. Enjoy, she shoots a lot better than she looks.

She'd about have to. :D:D

And I wish I owned that old gal. A lot of laughs at the range! :D

My 10-6 is so ugly, I'm almost embarrassed to take it out of the range bag.
But, it makes me smile when I shoot it

During the Marshall's ownership, it was shortened a bit to make it a better squad car holster revolver.

That meant it needed new sights. Look: What do you think they are?

Is that the front sight from an '03 Springfield?

Does that gun wear a screw on Wondersight rear sight?

As delivered from the Factory in 44 Special.

Nope, not quite.

This was reputed to be owned by two lawmen from my county...at least as related by the seller to me, the famous 1930's Sheriff's Son, but for sure by the Marshall in one of the small mountain towns here. I know, because I went to his home and had him hold it while I took his picture and he told me about it. He did not verify previous ownership by the Sheriff, but then, " Why did the auction buyer go through the trouble to transfer it back to the Son?"

It still has a lot of that deep blue....I hope that doesn't disqualify it from winning.

That's the first Smith I've ever seen with a barrel band.

You didn't see Raiders?

IndyGear.com: Guns

Indy used two different prop guns. A 1917 cut to 4 inches for scenes in America and South America and a 2nd model HE .455 Webley for scenes shot in the Middle East.

The 1917 had a barrel band.

Yeah, but I distinctly remember the one he tossed out when prepping to depart for the Middle East in the first movie as having an under lug. So I guess I have seen one, I just don't remember.

I never saw the second (heard it was a stinker.). But his sidearm when pursuing the Holy Grail looked like a Webley.

I definitely recall the Germans & their flunkies armed with MP40s in 1936. Seems like there was a cameo by a P38 as well.
