Now I REALLY Hate PayPal!!

I'm finding that Ebay is full of scammers. I've been trying to sell some items and for every item I list I get one or two who either try to work around the system or make false claims about what they purchased. I had one guy who wanted a refund even though it clearly stated "no refunds" claiming improper packaging. The item was insured which was at my expense and I suspect it was damaged in shipment or he was making a false claim. I told him to file a claim and I would work with him on it. Never heard from him again so I'm thinking a scam.

I'm starting to realize how a shrinking economy is affecting the way some people try to make a living, if you want to dress it up. If they can figure out a way to steal using a computer they will try that before actually getting an education/training and looking for an honest job.

Consciously putting any personal information on the internet is becoming riskier by the day. FTF with cash and a 38 will eventually become the most secure and least expensive way to do business again, I'm pretty sure of that. It eliminates the state and lots of other folks who really don't have any business in your business.

So, I've emailed PP with my case number several times and they keep sending me the same stupid link to their resolution center which is nothing more than a list of canned responses including provide more information. I then called, got a case passcode, was put on hold for twenty minutes and was dumped. Called back and was put on hold for twenty minutes and dumped. Received a note on my account when I logged in that the verification is "pending" with no specific time frame for a decision.

I have been using paypal since 2005 and I am verified. Paypal will never send an email requesting such information. It sounds like a scam to me and if you haven't already sent such information, please don't do it. Sign in to paypal and check things out. If you were contacted thru email foward the email to [email protected] as RevolverDen mentioned. Over the years I have received some fraudelent emails from paypal supposedly asking for certain information and I just foward them to paypal and they will reply to you. Sounds like fraud to me for sure. I wouldn't send that kind of information to nobody.

As I stated before, I was not contacted by PayPal. I found my account locked and the requests for information after my log in to PayPal. There were email, secure fax and mail options.
The address and website check out as the real PP ones and my account history and all other account info is available.

I've been using paypal for years & have never had to give that type of information. Smells like a scam.

As far as I'm concerned you and take Pay Pal, Ebay, Craigs list, etc put them in a pile and set 'em on fire. I got no use for any of them. And I darn sure have no use for the aggravation that goes with 'em.

I don't care for Paypal's politics but I like the convenience and I use it. I've never had to jump through excessive personal info hoops to use ppal.

I also use Craigslist extensively to buy and sell and love it. Where else can you post up to 24 high resolution photos and use as many words as you need to write your ad and it's absolutely free?

Most users of CL use 3 or 4 crappy cellphone pics in their ad. I use the limit of 24 good photos and my cars, boats, mowers usually sell fast and bring a good profit. Often it's like taking candy from babies. ;)

I just bought this one last week on craigslist and I've probably bought and sold a dozen or more vehicles/boats/mowers this year.
Keeps me off the streets. :D

Sounds like you're on a level 4 or may even 3 government watch list, monitoring your transactions. I wouldn't worry about it. My friend, Asayaba, didn't disappear until he reached level 2.

Man, they picked the wrong time to monitor my money!
I was in a nursing facility for the past month and a half during which I had no access to PayPal and spent no money.

I didn't have to provide that type of information. Did your account get hacked in the past?

I think someone is trying to scam you.

My guess also would be it's a scam. I have been using PayPal for years and they have never asked me for all that info. Might just want to contact them to verify before you go off on them.

Well, emails of the link my account page showing the information request and what I provided were sent to PayPal Customer Service and [email protected]. Heard back from both.

Guess what?- The request was legit and they apologized for taking nearly two days to review and reactivate my account.
Still not sure what tripped their panic switch.

Glad to hear you got it worked out. :)

I buy and sell occasionally on ebay. So that means paypal too. I have been on a limit of $500 a month of MY MONEY I can withdraw from MY ACCOUNT. They wanted my soc sec # and I balked ... a couple yrs ago.

I use my paypal account a grand total of one time each year....to renew my S&W forum contribution!

Paypal come to me wanting more proof of ID I'll tell them to pound sand. That's what I did with Proxibid when they started that BS.

Seriously, just how many more potentially hacked computers do I want storing my important personal information.:mad::mad: Paypal, Amazon and everybody else can combine sex and travel if they start asking more questions.
