Now I've done it...I'm getting a PLASTIC GUN

A few years before I retired in 1997 we transitioned to the Glock 23 and I earned to handle it like a natural extension of my arm/hand. Recently swapped my Gen 2 G23 for a Gen 3 G17 b/c the 9 mm is cheaper to shoot and recoil is lighter. My plan is to use the G17 for LEOSA qualification this summer. While I considered other brands I also thought about the old dog - new tricks thing and stuck with what I knew.

I never thought I'd have an HK. They were always expensive and I never bothered to look at them. You know....kinda like not going to a Ferrari dealership. Then one day I saw USP 9 with goodies for under $500. That day i learned about police trade ins.i now have two USPs in 9, one in 45 a compact in 40 and two P2000 both in 9 and 40!

Here's the kid trying it out.

He did the 'ol hand switcheroo thing on chambering a round which has since been corrected.

Too much muzzle flip on the video. Need to place the shooting hand higher on the backstrap.

He's tiny and still under 50 lbs. A 1/4" higher grip would not make much difference.

Plastic!! I had enough of plastic and potmetal growing up playing cops and robbers.:D No plastic in my safe except for grips.

Most of these guns have metal inserts in high stress/wear areas as well as metal housing critical components. The plastic part is mainly just to hold to. I'm okay with that.

It only took eighteen years to find one I liked.

I was steadfast in my resistance to plastic pistols. but in a moment of weakness, and after spending far too much time reading posts from folks here extolling the virtues of polymer S&Ws, I broke down and bought an SW990L that was way underpriced in my LGS.

Wow, I liked it. Nice gun.

And then the descent began....I added a SW9VE, Star UltraStar (doesn't feel like plastic), and finally, a new carry gun a Shield.

Unfortunately, even just, "a little taste," blooms into a full-fledged habit...and I added a Sig P320, Walther PPX, and a Sig SP2022.

All is not lost, however....I'm hard on the hunt for a 9mm 1911 in real metal.

Gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the plastic I bought, their accuracy, and overall nice triggers.

It was also kinda nice moving into the 21st Century.

It annoys me a bit that some can be so one dimensional. Just because a person likes one type of gun doesn't mean all others should be disregarded. Save for the actual cast zinc pot metal guns I pretty much like them all. My favorites, however are only ones I own.
