....or gladly, depends on how you look at it.
This morning I told my pastor that there was another installment in my life of constant gunfire. He cringed and said, "Oh no"! Actually this week's installment wasn't bad at all (free meat). The local cops shot a deer in front of my house as I was getting ready for work one morning this week. It had been hit by a car.
In addition to that, my wife and I ran into a would be mugger at the end of the summer while walking downtown for dinner. He was approaching us from about our 5:00 and about to launch his assault when my hands dropped into my front pockets and I gave him "that look". He knew he was dead if he persisted and went looking for greener pastures. One thing I've figured out is that when street people see your hands go into your pockets they read the writing on the wall with perfect clarity.
About a month ago a car full of what must have been drunks pulled into my driveway at 4:00a.m. on a Sunday morning and tried to get into my house. They tried the doorknob and beat on the door (not smart, with all their hollering, I had the front door covered with my Ithaca 37 [like I said really not smart at all

]). We hollered back and forth, me insisting that they leave, them literally yelling back that "we got your homeboy". When I heard them using keys in my front door (to no effect, I still don't know who those Bozos were) I lowered the barrel of the shotgun, after all they weren't using a sledgehammer. After leaving a generous offering of vomit on the walkway to my front door, they piled into the car they showed up in and left.
Think about the above examples. I used good sound tactics (even with the down deer, I took off my guns before approaching law enforcement in order to simplify the situation by not having to inform, per Michigan law [are you in Michigan?]) and came out, not only unscathed, but never had to fire a shot.
My point is, stick around this forum, get training on an ongoing basis, shoot regularly and be a student. Also keep in mind that if the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem starts looking like a nail (I don't think that's you). By not wanting to shoot, I didn't before it was necessary, or legal in each case, everyone walked away, and life is still good.
I don't avoid malls in my locale, I use sound tactics. YMMV
