Took my wife to the NRA Basic Pistol Class yesterday.

Other than making for a long day (8am to about 4pm) - we had a great time and she did really well! I'd highly recommend it - even though I already knew just about everything they covered it was still good to go over a few things. Hate admit it - but she actually shot better than I did! The instructors there told me it's a pretty common occurrence when spouses take the class together for the wive's to outshoot the husbands. :)

Here's a pic of her shooting my Sig P225 (and my Shield on the bench looking on...)

Well you confirmed that her technique is better than yours, and her form is definitely better. Time for you to go to the range alone and practice those fundamentals that were successfully explained to your lovely wife.

Questions?? Call 1-800-I-Listen. :D

Lol. Thanks!

Don't feel bad. When my Fiancee first shot my buddies 1911 she did very well.

Then it was my turn and..yea..we will just leave it at that :(..and she's relatively new to firearms!

Her instructor was not doing his job, she is leaning back and should be bending slightly forward at the waist and unlock her knees. That is what I say as a NRA Instructor, if they teach you right from the start its less bad habits they have to brake as time and training goes on. Basic pistol is just the beginning of many classes the NRA has to offer.

Yes I noticed that as well - but wanted to stay out of it since it was her instructor. He did mention it to her later on though.
