NRA convention

I'd love to go. I've only been once, to the one in Orlando (2003? I think). I believe it was Charlton Heston's last appearance. He was a shell of his former self, the dementia had really taken a toll on him by then. He looked confused until they put a rifle in his hands and his eyes lit up as he raised it above his head and proclaimed "From my cold dead hands". I think his voice they played over the sound system was pre recorded, but it still sent shivers up my spine and we all stood up and gave him an extended standing ovation. We saw Toby Keith there and that was the hook that got the wife to go.

I plan to go all 3 days and will stop at the SWCA booth and hopefully meet some of you

Where will the SWCA tent be?

It will be in 'Hall F'

"Smith & Wesson Single Action Era - Invention, Innovation and Historical Users

Smith & Wesson were masters of invention and innovation by creating the revolution from muzzle loading to cartridge revolver in the US from 1852 to 1900. Historical examples range from the first US Military cartridge revolvers to seven significant individual owner's guns. The highlight of which is a First Model Russian revolver used by famed Texas outlaw John Wesley Hardin in a shootout on his 21st birthday, May 26, 1874.

This is a third-generation collection presented by SWCA member Lynn Wilson Wood.

Brands: Smith & Wesson Collectors Association"

Me, my wife and son are going. Flying in Thursday flying out Sunday.
Got tickets to Charlie Daniels / Travis Tritt on Saturday night and tickets for the ILA / Vice President Pence event on Friday.
I hear tell President Trump is coming, but don't know when.

Flight out of Memphis cancelled so I booked a last second flight out of Little Rock. Delayed here but storms are blowing on through so should still get to big D at a decent time.

I've attended two, both in Reno. First one in 1987, I think. Met Harlon Carter NRA president, Bill Jordon & Elmer Keith's son, Ted there. Last one was in 2002. Bought Charlton Heston, NRA President & bought his book & got to shake his hand. The NRA Convention is a fine show. Always go if you have the opportunity.

I finally arrived about 8:30 last night. I was supposed to be here at 3:30PM, but SWA took the plane I was on for another flight that had mechanical issues. They then rebooked me on a flight that was supposed to take off at 3:00PM (their daily direct flight). So, I sat in the airport for hours, got on the plane, and then that was delayed taking off for almost an hour.

One we took off, the pilot announced that due to the weather in the midwest, we were going to take a more northerly route. That added about 45 minutes to the flight. We finally got into the area and then the airport was closed. Soooo, we flew around in circles for another 25 minutes.

We finally landed, my friend picked me up, and here I am.

Looking forward to finally get to the convention center.

Yeesh.

Speaking of the Convention Center, I was told last night that carry there is permitted during the entire event. It's the arena nearby, where POTUS will be speaking, that is the no go zone.
