MY new "Dr" at the VA clinic here is a Nurse Practitioner. I'm very satisfied and happy with her services. Nurses are kind of like NCOs in the military. They are what makes it all come together and work.

If you are in Washington DC and can get the the Vietnam Memorial, just outside the VN exit is the Combat Nurses Memorial. It is the most moving sculpture I have ever seen!

Nurses can make or break your appointment. Been lucky there. Don't forget the lady at the appointment phone, being nice to her gets you in when you need it.

They are great God bless them- worked with them in hospitals and clinics military and civilian for 20 years as a med tech.

Funny, compassionate, skilled life savers with a often ribald and non PC sense of humor. They know the true good and bad in any hospital and clinic and have saved untold lives.

When my late father was in the hospital for the last time, he was feeling that he was dying. The night nurse had come to his room, and she was holding Pop's hand and telling him that he was not going to die. And from watching her, I could tell that what she was telling Pop was really coming from the heart. Did she pull Pop back from the brink? All I know is Pop didn't die that night, and he held on long enough to be able to get out of the hospital and be able to view his beloved Lake Erie in his last hours.

Just spent over a week in the Critical Care unit with a family member, the nurses there are truly angels among us.

I had all but forgotten that there were still folks out there who genuinely cared.


Thanks to all of those who make it their job to care for our loved ones when they are unable to do so themselves...

I was in the VA hospital about 20 some years ago after having a
myocardial infarction (I think that's a heart attack). In the intensive
care unit I died (my heart stopped) 3 different times. I asked my
lovely old nurse how she brought me back. She say I used the yellen
method. I asked what is the yellen method? She said I just yelled
Mr. Chriswell Mr. Chriswell until you came back. I was only away for
a short time, but it was very peaceful.

My sister & brother-in-law are retired nurses; they both worked in just about every hospital depts. Not for me, nurses are special. Wife's sis is a nurse and her good friend also. I found out a few old school sweethearts were also. Special people, every one of them.

They put up with a lot of garbage. My Daughter, when she was charge nurse in ICU, had a patient that denied have diabetes when their blood sugar count was over 1200.

My beautiful and brilliant granddaughter is finishing high school and could have chosen any college, but decided on nursing school. We could not be more proud of her.
