A former neighbor, Porter, purchased a HD that someone had filed the back of the front sight to a ramp. Porter had someone weld it up and mill it to the proper thickness and reshape it. He then carried it to Alabama and had it hard chromed.
Different people have different definitions for adjustable sights, which also leaves fixed sights in undefined territory. Except in Gary Keilt's language. His communication is very clear.

Never heard of him, but then the only gun magazine I have subscribed to in the last 20 years is the NRA Rifleman.

I've sighted fixed-sight guns with a needle file. It actually works quite well.

Yeah, I get you don't like him. For all I know, it's earned. I do think in the example you provided you might've missed a funny bit of deadpan humor.
But I was looking for confirmation of the name spelling, because it's very odd for any kind of published writer to have zero online presence -- and again, when I run a targeted name search as spelled in your OP nothing but this thread comes up.
So, are you certain that's the correct spelling?
The "BLUE PRESS" is not a trade magazine the same as sports afield or AR is. It is a mag printed by Dillon specifically about their reloading presses, and related products. You have to contact Dillon and ask to receive it.
I get the Dillon catalog. Gary Keift is the correct spelling.

It wasn't humor. Statement was under a pic of the rear of the slide..........Some people shouldn't own a crayon......Much less a typewriter or lap top.
Never heard of this writer. But, I have used a Tig welder and a good set of files to adjust sights on single shot rifles, muzzle loader pistols, ETC. When the writer uses words like welder and grinder I assume it is tongue-in-cheek.
