NY passes gun bills.

What I would like to know is, how do they have the right to forbid anyone from buying a ballistic vest? So the law abiding citizens can't buy a vest but they let the bad guys out of jail the same day they arrest them with an illegal gun. How can a person protect themselves from the bad guys if they can't buy a good SD rifle and a vest to ware when the riots hit?

I have to stop now or I will have to ding myself...

So while the 2A forum rules are tossed to the wind because threads that trash NY gun owners are always exempt from the rules, the members trashing NY anxiously await the SCOTUS ruling brought to that court by dare I say it...NY Gun Owners! In other words, 2A fighters, New Yorkers that stay and fight, not the gutless wonders that cut and run.

People live where they live for many reasons. It's none of anyone else's business what they do.

I left for better weather, quality of life, lower taxes, etc. I didnt need anyones approval.

Be glad you are where you are in your perfect little world.

Life is not only about guns, at least to me.

Mods can lock this now.

This was a post about info that got turned into the usual bashing BS seen here all the time.

I'm originally from NY. I spent most of my first 18 years in the city; in Brooklyn. The Red Hook section, where Crazy Joe Gallio ran his mob. I don't often admit all this, least way not in public. But today, I'm making an exception because of all the nonsense I'm reading on this thread about where one lives - what otter nonsense! What BS! People live where they do for many reasons, none of which is anyone's business. But those Folks who live in the so called "Communist States", the "occupied States" or a dozen other names are the true 2A fighters and supporters. It's easy to sit in "Free States" like FL, TX, MT , etc on our collective rear ends at a keyboard. It takes guts and will power to get up from that keyboard and actually do something about something that one feels deeply.
I'm disappointed with some of the members here, who I usually regard as rather level headed and intelligent.
Mod, ding me if you wish, but you guys should have stepped in or closed this thread by now.

I am a 5th generation New Yorker. My family came here to escape poor conditions. The state has everything I could ever want. Hunting, fishing, scenery, etc., etc.

I am a gun collector and own anything and everything I ever wanted. I shoot freely at a club and on my own property. Pistol permit - yeah. But it was merely paperwork and I didn't have to jump thru any hoops.

Yes, the taxes are high, but the home prices are low. My beautiful home, on a monthly cost basis, would be much higher elsewhere. My mountain cabin was bought dirt cheap and I am in awe everything I sit at my pond with a beer in hand.

I know other people that poopooed NY and swore they would get the heck out asap. Then, they found out what the "real" cost was living in ** or **. Hahaha is all I say. And the tornados and hurricanes that we DON'T have are another blessing.

I guess I'm an anomaly in that I's satisfied with my life. To others that don't like it here, I say good riddance, we don't want YOU either. If you like living in **, then more power to you.

sorry, the double post happen after only one "post'.

People live where they live for a lot of reasons, and all of those pluses and minuses have to reach a balance that suits the individual.

If individual rights are high on your list of priorities, you may factor that in to your choice of venues. If personal income is your primary choice you will factor that in. Using just those two factor we can see how difficult it is the balance the equation.

When I was working I took some transfers opportunities and turned others down. When I retired, the decisions became simpler. I moved from PA to Ohio to be closer to family. Left behind a great tax situation for retirees to one the is fairly odious. Grandkids got older, one son got transferred, the weather in Cincinnati is not pretty 6 month out of the year.

So I moved again to the upstate in South Carolina. Great weather, low taxes, strange gun laws compared to Ohio, although they are now getting more liberal.

I do not think anybody is "stupid" because of where they live. Most do not have much choice. When you retire, you can choose somewhat. That is why southern, conservative states keep getting more population.

I respect the right of everybody here to have opinions . Some of those opinions I think are faulty, but I do not think the folks are "stupid" I just do not agree with their values.

New York is a beautiful state. If they could just give NYC to California, it would be a great state.

As they say in Ireland "Dhia sa Tak", God Bless All Here.

There are far more factors in where you live than the gun laws. As much of a gun enthusiast that I am, I didn't move to PA from NY because of the gun laws. I moved there for the lower taxes and relative ease in getting to work. My brother is a teacher in a wealthy NY suburb. He makes nearly $200,000 a year. Should he quit, take a huge pension hit, and move to South Carolina for the better gun laws, so he can take a $160,000 pay cut and lose all his seniority? In 5 more years he'll retire with a $110,000 a year pension for life.

I'm a gun guy and hate these new laws. I believe some serious federal ones are coming that are going to make the NY ones irrelevant and make us long for the good old day of the 94 ban, but in the grand scheme of things, keeping my 30 round mags is pretty far down on my list of priorities, and frankly, I think gun owners are fooling themselves if they think clinging to "what does the phrase "shall not be infringed" mean to you?", is going to do a whole lot of good. I've been saying for years that 18 year olds shouldn't be able to buy a gun. Fighting for that one isn't a hill I want to die on.

But what will happen, will happen. I'm more concerned with $6 a gallon gas and exploding grocery bills than I am 30 round mags and high school kids buying AR's on their 18th birthday.
