NY passes gun bills.

Hope no one tells them a person can operate a lever or pump plenty fast enough to kill as many as they choose. These laws do nothing to prevent nut jobs killing other people with guns.

wait until they discover civilian flame throwers, including the drone one.

IIRC the New York Safe Act banned the Remington 7615 which was a pump action rifle that accepted AR-15 magazines.

The court threw out that ban as the was no evidence to support a rational basis for the legislature to ban pump rifles.

No pumps would not be affected at all. I used to live there and had a 7615 and lots of 10 round magazines.
When I came to my senses and left NY I traded it to a friend for a complete AR lower. Later he shipped me the upper. I can't even remember what happened to that rifle. I think I cut it loose the last time we had an AR panic buying event, and got a good buck for it.
Ny and Cal are dueling banjos for the most draconian I'll conceived laws that have zero impact on criminals ( except revolving door "bail reform")

That was CT, not NY.

As far as the permits go, it's just getting dumped on the existing pistol permit system. FYI, some counties still haven't returned to in-person permit changes yet, so you get to wait a year for a permit, pay $120, and then wait a week or two for each new rifle.

The way I look at it you can stay in your blue state and fight a losing battle or you can move to a state where your vote still counts and enjoy your freedom. Years ago we left the PRNJ behind for the relatively 2A friendly Commonwealth.
A local gun store owner told me I was quitting the fight by leaving but I look at it differently. You only have one life to live. In PA we can enjoy a lifestyle no longer available in Jersey. Life is too short to compromise.

Very relatable, replace NJ with NY and my story is similar.

You were taking advantage of the way a constitutional Republic is supposed to operate. The States make the laws that suit their voters. If you are in a minority you have the freedom to move to a State where the laws are to your liking. States will grow and prosper based on the populations they attract. Only important rights are protected by the Constitution. In the Federal system the rights of smaller, less populous States are protected by the Senate, where every State gets two Senators, and by the Electoral College (which is a separate topic). The voice of the majority is accommodated by The House of Representatives where the number of Representative is based on population.

The push for Federal Laws is often meant to force smaller States to conform to the will of the majorities in larger States instead of their own populations.

Protect our Republic. (Vote early, vote often, and do not neglect the recently departed)

I believe we can tell by the bail laws how much New York cares for it's citizens…

Recently, a "criminal" attacked a women in her car at the local supermarket. He stole her purse and bloodied her face. A short time later he did the same thing at another store, but was quickly caught.

Appearance ticket....let go.

A day later he did the same thing but this time he did it with an illegal handgun.

Another appearance ticket.

You have to understand the circumstances. He was a downtrodden youth with no father and a druggie mother. He didn't deserve to be incarcerated.

(true story, but the last paragraph was sarcasm).

Came in here today because my local NY forum is pissing me off with all this talk. Looks like I can't escape it here today Wish I could move but that is still a long way off unfortunately family obligations and $$$…..still keeping me here. Hopefully one day will be in the Smokey Mountain area in Tennessee.

IDK where you are in the 4th Reich but life is good on the free side of the Delaware River.

We are always welcoming to those escaping the tyranny of the border States.

Will get real expensive real quick

Federal Courts will uphold Supreme Court decision saying New Shall Issue carry permits and plaintiffs winning those lawsuits will get their attorneys fees reimbursed when they win

NY state government and the City have deep pockets and can tie things up in court for years.
New York will never really be a Shall Issue state.
At minimum they will make it so onerous to get a permit that few will jump through all the hoops that will be required to get one.

Also, by staying in a Blue State you are helping to fund the madness through the taxes you pay.

2 years and 10 months before I could retire. I gotta get outta this place. May God have mercy on the rest of the nation. I'm looking at Pennsylvania and Tennessee as retirement states. The problem is that so many Commies from NewYorkistan are headed south bringing their liberal ideals with them.

so is it acceptable now on this site to insult all residents of a state?

That always bothers me, too. Thank God I don't have to live in one of these authoritarian states, that strip it's citizens of their liberties.

When I see people insult people that live in NY, CA, etc. it's just wrong. There are a lot of like-minded people that are stuck in these states, and they're getting abused by their government. They deserve our support, not our contempt! It's not easy for many people to leave their home to escape these states, nor should they have to. They've got families, friends, careers, homes, etc.
