NYPD Model 64-1: 4-inch SB, 4-inch RB, 3-inch RB and 2-inch RB

Great post. I am saving this info.

I have 3 NY1s in different configurations.
4" RB standard SS finish and no side SN. 64 with no dash designation shipped in June of 1987
2" RB vapor honed with side SN. 64-3 shipped September of 1989
4" SB standard SS finish with side SN. No details yet.

I have 3 model 10s and a Ruger Service Six that letter to the NYPD Equipment Bureau. The 10s are plain run of the mill model 10s. 2 -6 and a -8. The Ruger is also a plain run of the mill Service 6 in 38.

I also have a no dash 36 shipped to Harvan Sporting goods in 1966. It was from the same officer as one of 10-6 shipped in 68 and the Ruger shipped Jan 1987. He advised he used it while in an undercover assignment.

I bought a new 3" round butt NY-1 (bkn serial number), Mod 64 with no -3 from The Cop Shop in Louisville, Ky back in 1993 after reading an article in Gun Test magazine. I think it was $350. Supposedly it was part of a an over run by S&W and they were authorized to sell to dealers. I have no idea if that's true as that shop has been closed for a long time and I lost contact with the owner a bit after he closed shop.
