NYS Assembly Speaker (D) Silver said today that maybe New Yorkers can keep their 10 round magazines but only load them with 7 live rounds and 3 blanks, if the lawmakers revisit the magazine portion of the Safe Act!!!! BLANKS!!! I cant believe our state has come to this.

Well he may have a change of heart but WE DO NOT! He is not going to get elected next time around. We have not forgotten who voted for this new law.

James

Unfortunately, his constituents would prefer that we have no firearms in civilian hands.

Sgt.207,
He hasn't changed a thing. The 10 round magazine was always going to be able to be kept but you were only legally able to load 7 in it. I've not heard that you must load 3 blanks though.
Ask Mr. Silver how many rounds HIS bodyguards are stiffing in their magazines. All of us New Yorkers may have to go out and buy heavier belts in order carry more than the usual one firearm at a time. They don't call it the New York reload for nothing.

Len

Yeah, because a gun cycles the same on blanks as it does on regular bullets... *facepalm*

They are talking about changing the law to allow future purchases of ten round magazines, which is currently set to be unlawful as of 4/15/13 when that section of the new law takes effect.

From people I have spoken to, the political fallout has been incredible and now many of these politicians are starting to realize the gravity of what they have done and are trying to save face with the gun owners. They all need to be voted out of office during the next election cycle. The lawsuits are in play in NY and that is further reinforcing to these politicians that they screwed up. Cuomo though wont back up on anything...

Oh, I didn't realize it was changing the part of the law that would have outlawed new 10 round mags after 4/15.
I saw a great sign at the second amendment rally in Albany. It said "NO Deal Repeal." That is where I stand on the "Safe Act."

1. Are there law suits in Federal/State courts to ejoin he enforcement until courts rule on the Constitutionality of this idiot law.
2. Are you New Yorkers going to comply/
3. While we are at it, why has your gun registration laws never been challenged as having a chilling effect on a right secured by the Constitution.

I'm not sure what gun registration laws you are referring to.
We do have handgun registration as a component of our permit law. As of right now long guns are not registered other than going through a NICS check and filling out a 4473.
If you are referring to the registration of "assault weapons" it is already being challanged.

The whole law has been challenged on constitutional grounds by a NYS Supreme Court judge. I believe the state gov't has until the end of April to prove the law is constitutional.
The Senate and Assembly seats of NYC politicians are pretty safe, imo, the representatives in the rest of the state are under pressure, some will undoubtably lose their seats.

Chris, don't forget you can carry 10 live rounds at the range   That's in case the targets decide to shoot back.:D

Didn't they also violate state law by pushing this thing through overnight and not allowing any time for public comment?

Yes - No - good question.

YES - 10 rounds at the range but only seven live rounds and three blanks on the street. I cannot for the life of me understand how these people get elected and how, in God's name, can an elected official legitimately advise people to carry BLANKS!!! That's just as ridiculous as the VP telling people to fire two shotgun blasts out the back door!!!

I know I vote in every election but I do know of many people who never do, saying my vote wont change anything. I've been pushing these people to vote for years - maybe next time they will, and remove these "leaders" of ours.

Yes - there is a lawsuit in progress on this issue and the State of New York has until 3/11/13 to respond to the Court as to their actions.
