O.K. What was your 1st. Gun and when!

At age 7 it was a .22 bolt action Harrington & Richards single shot rifle.

Like this Model 550, except mine had the "Top Hat" button on the rear of the bolt.

That allowed the gun to be "decocked" ever so carefully as you held it in one hand as the gun was pointed in a safe direction while the trigger was pulled with the other.

I've been shooting since I was six but I didn't own a gun until I got an Enfield MKIII .303 on my 12th birthday. I had been pestering my dad to give it to me for over a year at that point. I guess he got tired of hearing about it. We were shooting one Saturday afternoon and finally he handed me the gun fully loaded. He said if I could empty the whole magazine without stopping I could have it. I did, and the old WWI rifle has been with me ever since.

First gun was a 16 Ga Stevens 311 double barrel. My father's best friend who I called an uncle gave it to me in 1989 at the age of 13. He passed the next year. Two years after that his widow, his daughter (who I still call a cousin) and his son in law presented me with a Mossberg 472 .30-30, and my brother a marlin 336. My first hand gun was a 3 inch 13 with oversized pachs out of the WANTAD for $300 bucks.

Mine was a Winchester 190 .22 semi-auto. Never could get it to feed a full tube without jamming multiple times. I sold it and bought a Stevens clip fed .22 bolt action which was a awesome rifle. Sold that one to my best friend about 30 years ago. My first centerfire firearm was a Colt Series 80 Officers ACP which I still have.

My first firearm was a Norico milled SKS back in 1993, then a Russian SKS. Sold those off for a S&W model 686 6" barrel.

Remington 582 w/o scope. 1967. Sold it to fund a Ruger 10-22 several years later. Wish I had it back.

My 1st Real Gun Was a Marlin Glenfield Model 60 .22 Long Rifle Semi Auto My Dad purchased it for Me @ K-Mart in 1972 I was 12 years old I still have The Marlin & it's still in Great condition.

I was sent to a 2 wk summer camp by the garden club the summer of 1973. Came home with a certificate that allowed me to get an fid card that was what you needed to be able to purchase and possess a firearm. I think if I remember it jumped me ahead by 6 months to be able to do that as long as a parent gave permission. My mother wrote a permission note on the back of a shopping list and I took it on down to the police station. Forget what I paid for the FID card but remember the officer asking me if I really ate finnan haddie. Which apparently was one of the items on the shopping list. (Still do make it once in awhile) When I got my card I went to K-Mart and bought a brand new Marlin Model 60 for $39.95

I still have it, and while I have a few other neat toys these days that was my first and I treasure it for just that reason. I've replaced a few parts on it over the years but I keep it as ready as any of the others in the house.

I had several Daisy BB guns-best was M25 with good peep sight and shot hard. Dad got me a sears clip feed 22 at about 12.
My first S&W was purchased in about 1962 or 63 from a friends friend who was an FFL-it was a M 35! It cost me $77.00 or so. I sent it in for tgt trigger/hammer and grips. I didn't really know how to shoot it very well and foolishly sold it. I have picked up a replacement M35 or two but wish I still had that 1st one. Upon return from Vietnam in '70, I bought a M34 for $105 which I still have.

My first was a Mossberg 20 ga. pump at the age of 11. I think I paid $50 cash and carry at a Western Auto store.

You cannot imagine how excited I was to find this Browning Medalist under the Christmas tree when I was 12 years old. Thanks Dad. My college age son enjoys shooting this and someday it will be his.

My first gun was a Winchester Model 74 22 auto that I got when I was around 12 years old. Sadly it was stolen when I was in college.

First gun

I bought a Winchester 69 used at age 10..paid 10 dollars. Still have it.. First handgun at age 11. Colt SAA 38 WCF. Was gonna out draw all those guys on the western shows and movies. Then realized my parents would take a handgun away from me so I hid it for 7 years. It is in about 65% and was made in 1900. Worth quite a bit now then when I was 12 a fellow that worked at Aberdeen Proving Grounds gave me a M-1 Carbine and a bit more than 5000 rounds of ammo. Told me to wear 'em both out. I did so. Took longer to load the Mag's than to shoot 'em

Always wanted one of the Browning like yours..Found one today and don't know what to pay. Neat guns

Mine was a Daisy M-25 pump. I've read it was the fastest BB gun ever made. It dropped head shot squirrels like a rock. I was 7. At age 8 Dad bought me a single shot Stevens 22 and a Savage model 94 singleshot shot gun in 410. I taught my son to shoot with it and he taught my Grandson who now has it. Dad traded mildly. The 22 went a way, he later bought me a Mossberg target rifle. Then a horse threw him and it was ruined.

I got Grandpas single shot White powder Wonder 12 gauge with fluid steel bbls. Dad instructed me to use low brass only. Grandpa and Dad both used it to kill pheasant in Iowa. It did fine on game for me.

The 1st gun I ever bought in my teens was a used Model 100 Winchester 308 carbine. It was quite the deer "whisperer".

My first pistol was a Star surplus 9mm. The bbl was so pitted I had to grease each round before I loaded the magazine. Did not keep it long.

Owned lots of Colt's should have kept them. They were cheap and plentiful in the late 60's. Who had ever heard of collectors anyway.

First powder fired gun I shot was a Remington Scoremaster bolt action one of my Uncles owned. It was a fine .22lr. Would love to own one. A few years later, when I reached my 10th birthday, I got a Crosman 488 carbine. I was deadly with that little pump up out to about 30 yds.

After I got my first job, about 5 years later, I bought a Winchester 120 12 ga pump, with my own money. Times were tough, and Dad only had his shotgun, and we needed 2 to hunt together. It was the early 80's. I paid $115+ tax.

Dad felt bad about the fact I had to buy my own first shotgun, and car.... and after I was in college, and he was in much better financial shape, on my 21'st birthday, he bought me a 12 pack, and a Browning S/S Grade 2, 20 ga. Sporter. About the finest fowling piece a boy could wish for....

My first was a 1890 Winchester 22 bolt action. It was found in the trash by my uncle, a trash man. He gave it to me when I was 9 or ten. Spent a lot of time shooting it in the woods around my home. I still have it. Imagine giving your ten year old a 22 now with no supervision for hours on a daily occurrence.. CPS all over you. Ahh the good old days.

A Remington 1100 12ga when I graduated high school in '67. Still have it.

Just before Christmas 1961, my non-gunner dad took me to Warshal's Sporting Goods in downtown Seattle and helped me select a Winchester M75 Target as my gift. Then he got me enrolled in the NRA-affiliated Seattle Police Athletic Association Rifle Clubs (SPAARCS) He wanted to make sure I got good training, and I rose to Sharpshooter, 5th Bar before school and other considerations took me away from the club.
First shooter, however, was a "Buzz Barton Cactus Carbine" with real, wooden stock (early Daisy, IIRC) that I pulled from a neighbor's trashcan in about 1957. Fully covered in rust, the action still worked, so I oiled it up, cleaned the red stuff out of it, and bought some BBs at the local Sporting Goods (tube of 500 for a quarter). Seals near gone, it didn't have much zip, but it was MINE and I made it Work !
I eventually ruined it with a hacksaw, making it into a Josh Randal "mare's laig". (Hey, I was 11)

Marlin Model 60

My first gun was obviously a bb rifle, then a Crossman pump up pellet rifle then at 6 or 7 I got a Marlin Model 60 22 rifle.
Shot many a squirrel, rabbit, crow and cans with that rifle.

A pump up 177cal pellet pistol. My older brother took it to school and shot it through a 2" thick door(1950's). The more we pumped it the more power it had. We replaced the piston pump o ring with a faucet washer. My first gunsmith repair. Luckily dad never caught us.
