Oaths

When people try to justify gun bans by claiming that the 2nd only protects muskets, my response is if that is true, then the 1st only protects quills and ink.

Then they go on to say "well, they didn't envision people owning assault weapons!". Back then private citizens had artillery and battleships.

Given the limited medical technology available to treat gunshot wounds in the 18th Century, I think the firearms of that era were every bit as deadly as anything we have today.
