OC on it's way to FL?

As a South Florida resident, it's good to see this is back on the table. After the last round, it looked like it was dead.

Oh no!!! The streets will run red with blood!! Just like what's going to happen in Texas in a couple weeks! :D

Good luck to FL in getting this passed this time around.

I understand this proposed new law will allow only those with a concealed carry permit to open carry. I hope it passes for several reasons, one of which is I can carry in the hot summer months when going for a walk and not worry so much if some part of the gun is accidentally exposed (though I intend to continue to conceal carry). A couple years ago I was cutting brush along my fence line by the road and my shirt kept sliding off my handgun when I bent over, exposing it to the rare car that went by. When I finished, I started on the side fence line. A deputy drove by slow and saw me but didn't stop. I suspect a driver saw my gun and reported it. When the deputy saw me on my property he must have decided it was not worth getting out and bothering me about. This new law would make things like that less likely to happen. Fortunately, I live in a gun owner friendly state in a county with a gun owner friendly sheriff. In some states the simple mistake of letting my shirt slip over my gun and expose it could have resulted in a lot more than a drive by from a deputy.

All this about "OpenCarry" We have open carry here in Ms and I can not remember when was the last time I've seen someone with a gun on their hip. We don't need a CCW to open carry. All the same talk about blood in the streets, your gun will be taken from you. scare the women and kids, lose your tactical advantage, you look stupid, police will harass you and a dozen more things. Women can carry in their purse or handbag or in a briefcase no CCW. Just can't carry concealed on your person with out a permit. We have enhanced permits that allow you to carry in places regular CCW does not.

During Mardi Gra which starts next month we have parades every week for a month and at the briefing before the parade our Capt will instructs us just because someone is walking down the street with a gun on their hip or a rifle on their back you Can Not question them for just walking down the street.

In ten years I have only seen one person with a gun at a parade.

Charlie Sherill if you read this help me out. Open carry is open carry lets get over it. Your just not going to see pistoleros walking around with guns.

I don't plan on open carrying, but would like the option if needed. We already have an amendment on the CC laws for accidental, brief exposure protection. Unfortunately, some of the anti-2A Sheriffs in Florida say if we can see it, then you took too long to cover it, whether or not you know it's exposed. It's those sheriffs that prompted the open carry bill, so they can't keep harassing law abiding citizens. You know they'll find some loop-hole to harass us still.

The open carry bill has been doing okay this last session, passing in both the House and Senate Sub Committees, to be heard later in the next session. The Stand You Ground, Burden of Proof bill passed the Senate Sub Committee and will be heard this next session. The Campus Carry Bill will be heard as one of the first bills when the House and Senate convene in January.

It looks like a bunch of e-mails will need to be going out in early January.

as a FL res. I like the option, but would probably never do it. for me, CCW is the way to go. not saying when i get my new to me BBQ rig for my Hi-power, i wont wear it a bit! that said, i will continue to carry concealed pretty much only.

KS allows both and now no permit is needed for either. Personally I think open carry is kind of a "hey, look at me, I've got a gun" type thing and could make you one of the first targets if something were to escalate to the point of gunfire, which hopefully won't happen. KS has allowed open carry for some time now and I've only seen 3 people taking advantage of it, and I'm out and about quite a bit.
