Yay pawn shop junk boxes. Found this little guy and thought maybe one of my derringers. Nope, no bueno.
Pulled up the Hunter fit list and went thru a couple of times. Nope, no bueno.
Anyone have a bigger better list ?
I was thrown off a little by the extra digit.

1100P 55, No idea what a P signifies.

Any ideas?

O Great, now I got to buy a High Standard Derringer, having the holster and all.
Funny, the chart I found online did not seem to have any High Standards on it. Go figure.
Thanks for finding that.

Hunter 1100 holsters

The P has no significant meaning. I have seen tan Hunter 1100 models with B, G, F, K, P, R, S, and X stamped between the 1100 and the fit number. There may be more letters. I called Hunter about this years age and was told that the letter was an employee code.

Now, if it is stamped "OE" after the fit number, it means Open End.

Surely it does, given that a B suffix denotes black. I'm going to suggest a P suffix means plain brown, using P because B couldn't be used for brown when it already meant black.

One of Hunter's founders (as Colorado Saddlery) also was at J.M. Bucheimer and it appears the same internally focused logic for numbering carried over; in J.M.B's case using a B prefix to mean Bucheimer and not black.

Wiki says the HS derringer was introduced in 1961 and made for about 20 years thereafter. I have Hunter catalogues for that era but not their fitment charts, so it took different expert to solve this one!
