I started giving the shield a work out and something strange happened. All of a sudden the next round wouldn't seat all the way. Cleared it, happened again. same with different ammo. So I set it aside and finished my practice with my sp101. When I got home I disassembled the shield and low and behold there was a bullet stuck in the barrel. It looked like it separated at the case mouth. Cheap Tula ammo. Now I got 30 rounds to dispose of. The moral of the story...buy American.

Look at it this way, it's a good thing it stuck where it did. If it had stuck further down the barrel and allowed another round to get into battery, you would be posting about a blown up Shield and possibly injured right now.

I dont use cheap ammo in any of my self defense pistols, and it doesnt matter of im at the range or not. If its a pistol that my life my someday depend on, then it gets good brass ammo each and every time its fired.

My life isnt worth having my good pistol screwed up over cheap ammo, IMO.

I agree with dragon88. You were really lucky not being able to rack and fire another round. This was a cheap lesson and nobody got hurt. I shoot mostly revolvers and unless you realize a round is a squib (usually only a primer going off or failure to completely ignite the powder) it's easy enough to try to fire again with very negative results. If a round doesn't sound or feel right, check the barrel.
