Off duty officers banned from carrying at New York State Fair...

One possible work-around: Every officer who attends the fair could be designated by their department as "On duty". I'm sure there would be administrative complications in all of the departments involved, but it would be worth it: 1) to enhance the security of the attendees, and 2) to stick it to the those who came up with such a bad idea.

Boycott that stupid so called family gathering and their deepfryed Donuts and Fudge Bars.

The Syracuse Gun Show is located on the same grounds (NYS Fair Grounds) and has been for decades.

Next scheduled show is in Sept.
The next move we will be hearing is it's cancellation for there being No Firearms Allowed on NYS Fair grounds except those carried by On-Duty L/E .

As well they should; they have no oath or
obligation to serve and protect except
themselves.
I note a hint of sarcasm…
They do take an oath, but don't expect a lot of support from law enforcement when you hang them out to dry. This recent anti-police sentiment, especially by misguided officials, isn't without consequence.

These are OUR police, trying to maintain order and enforce OUR laws. The last thing I want is anarchy.

Police exodus causes nationwide officer shortage

I've been to the NC State Fair twice. After seeing a 1500+ lb watermelon and a 1000+ lb tomato, I've seen enough.

It's a big deal for many. I am amazed by the crowds that come from all over the state.

The food is all fried, not my thing.

Oh yeah, no guns allowed.

I only go to the NYS Fair to catch a concert or 2 some years. I'm in and out. No corn dogs or fried Snickers bars. No waltz down the midway. The concert crowds are usually pretty mellow (at least the ones I go to). I'm happy that no acts interest me this year an therefore they won't see me.
