For those of you who have Academy stores in your town, 22LR is starting to show up several times a week. The trick (here in Oklahoma) is to find out what day your Academy receives it's truck deliveries. Then show up about 30 minutes before opening - peek in the front window and see what is on the file cabinets in Customer Service (that is where they stock the "rare" ammo like 22LR, .223, 9mm, 40 S&W, etc.)

If you see what you need, get in line. Each customer can buy one box of each caliber with a maximum of three boxes. I've missed out on the 1600 round ammo boxes of CCI mini-mag, but have scored 375 or 525 round Federal every day I have gotten in line. The 5.56 and 40 S&W is just a bonus for 30-40 minutes standing line.

Because of the purchase limits, more customers have a chance to get some ammo - it seems fair to me.

I'd like to know if Academy is following this policy throughout the entire chain.

LL

P.S. - for those who are curious about prices, here is what I paid this week:

375 round 22LR Federal value pack $15.99
525 round 22LR Federal value pack $19.99
20 round 5.56 Independence 9.99
25 round American Eagle 40 S&W 18.99

The Academy on Hwy 6 and Westheimer here in Houston is following that policy. They usually get ammo Tuesday and Saturday mornings, although they didn't get any ammo this Tuesday.

Just an FYI for everyone, watch out if you place an order with CTD. I got an order through this morning, then got an email with a notice of back order. That was fine with me, the price was locked in....until I got a cancellation order. AFTER they took my money. Now they want 2-3 days to credit me....
Happened to me also this morning for an order of 223.

Not 22 cent good thats for sure.

Yea :/ I have a local place that has some CENTURION AMMO .22LR 1280FPS. 38GR. but he wants 7.99 for a box of 50. Normally they run 4 bucks :/ 16 cents each... I might buy 500 tomorrow but still not to happy about the price :/

Yeah I feel violated at some of these prices. I can barely wait for all this political crude to be over, so all of us can buy ammo and mags, and AR parts without morgaging our homes.lol Whats really sick, our some of these sites that ive done buisness with before at fair prices and shipping, have marked up there ammo over 100% MSRP. And if you get them on the phone and ask they tell you, there trying to keep stock in so all get a little. And to prevent people from cleaning the shelfs. BS the shelfs are empty already, they just want the profit. The problem with that is these customers are the folks that keep there lights on. Very unprofessional buisness practices. IMHO

I wouldn't feel so bad if all they did was raise their prices a little, supply and demand right? But they jack up the shipping so it costs more then the ammo - thats not even right.
