They are probably verifying age since it could be "pistol" ammo. AIM Surplus requires that you submit a copy of your license/Photo ID before they will ship. Maybe a state requirement based on their location? But then again I've never heard of them so maybe a scam, call them and ask why...
They do that to verify a birthdate? They can lose their FFL for selling to underage if caught. A local gander mountain had this happen to them, couldn't sell guns or ammo, went out of business the next year. Same as asking for your ID when you buy ammo from a retail store
I sent them my ID Just like I did with aims. All they did was check it and say that I am now a "VIP" and could purchase "restricted products". If you look their site all ammo and firearms are listed as "restricted products". I for one am not worried about it if they malicious intent there would be a lot of easier ways to go about doing it with out leaving a paper trail to them for asking for your ID. Just my thought
