OFFICIAL Using Wal-Mart App/Website

A WM about 20 miles away showed 100 rd boxes of Rem in stock plus limited 22lr 325 count. Got there at 6:20 and I was 12th in line. Promptly at 7:15 they opened the boxes. 27 of the Rem 100 9mm, 12 boxes of PPU 380/50 count and 12 boxes of 45 WWB 100 count. Also two boxes of M22. Thought I might have a chance at 9mm so I stayed. First guy got both M22/2000 rounds plus one 9mm. Next 3 guys took all the 325 packs of 22. At that point the next 4 people left because they were after 22. When I left at 7:25 there were still several boxes of 9mm and all the 380 and 45. It hadn't been touched. Got 3 if the 9mm.

The app has been 100% accurate for me. Except 22lr which I strongly suspect is being intercepted before it hits the shelf. I have the workers scan the boxes that are supposedly in stock and the count changes day to day. 2 in stock, then 0, then 10, then 3, back up to 7. Except no one has seen any. Doesn't irritate me too much as I see more and more ammo showing up on the shelves and I don't shoot .22's that much.

The app hasn't worked for me yet. Checked at 5:30 this am. Showed 9mm, 22lr, and 223 tulammo in stock. Showed up at store at 6:15. Manager said none of that was there and hasn't had 223 in 2 weeks. They did have 8 boxes of 380 which never showed up on the app. I'm beginning to have my doubts about this app.

Dont doubt the app, doubt the employees who are feeding you a line of BS.

If that stuff was OOS and came in stock it was unloaded off a truck in the back. Guaranteed.

Shows 556 in stock but wasn't on the shelf. They were bringing stuff out so ill go early in the morning with the girl to get 6 boxes then go shooting with her dad

App doesn't work well at my closest store, but one 20 miles away is reliable. The store is open 24 hours, but doesn't sell ammo between 10 pm and 7 am as they have had people break the glass and steal it, so they lock it up in the back every night. If the app says it is there after 10 pm, it will be out at 7 the next morning. They only allow 3 boxes per customer, which I like.

This is what I was told by a friend of mine who works at our WM, they get thier stuff from a Warehouse less than a mile from the store, the ammo does not come on the regular truck now, they have a guy bring over whatever they are getting in a van and it put into the locked managers office until after 7AM, then it is put out. But I have yet to see or get any Win 555 or M22. They only thing I have not seen that said instock or limited was some .243 this week that I was trying to get.

Your friend is greatly misinformed of the situation. That's being polite about it. This is so far from the truth that you'd need the Hubble Space Telescope to see it.

Ammo goes on truck with every other case of merchandise, its not marked as ammo unless it comes in factory box saying Federal etc., truck goes to store, truck is scanned in, stuff in truck now hits app, truck is unloaded, ammo put in security lock up until 7am, clerk gets ammo out at 7am and stocks the shelf.

Are employees buying it? Maybe. They either shoot or need resell money.
Are employees calling friends/relatives? Maybe. They're just like you and me.
Are employees being paid under the table to make calls/texts? God damn right they are. I know I would both as a clerk and as a customer.
Are employees selling more than the limit of 3? Maybe. Wouldn't you tip a guy to sell you more? I know I would.

Here is something everyone needs to think about:
Ammo gets sent to the store's trailer.
Ammo gets scanned by the guy loading it, but the guy doesn't throw it on yet.
Trailer gets full and the guy forgets to put it in. He's in charge of loading more than 3 trailers at the warehouse.
Store manifest shows the ammo is on the trailer when it gets there when they scan the trailer in.
App is updated, and ammo shows in stock, then some stores scan each item as it's unloaded, app is updated again hours later and ammo is showing no longer in stock.
Some Ammo that they "did" receive is now put in cabinet at 7am.
People standing in line or looking at their app thinking ***?! some ammo is there but not the other stuff that showed up earlier etc... All of this happens from time to time. Also there could be some employee rule breakers like I mentioned above.

Previously not loaded Ammo shows up on another truck days later, but may or may not be scanned again on the trailer. So app may get updated again or may not be depending on clerk at store. Most likely its scanned again which will update the app.

This happens quite a bit with .223 and .22lr rimfire ammo. It doesn't get to ride the lines at most warehouses do to it being rimfire. There have been accidents of rimfire breaking open and discharging and shooting people. True story. .223 isn't rimfire but not everyone knows this, they see .223 and actually in their mind they think they see .22 ammo. Same with 22-250 etc... this is a fast paced environment when working with walmart.

Another ammo tidbit is that not all stores get full cases of 1 type of ammo. Its separated by a special warehouse that deals solely in ammo/supplies which are for store use only. They sometimes use the factory boxes to repackage ammo and also place more ammo of a different type inside. Going green is good for the environment.

Also the ammo is also packaged into other nondescript boxes when there is only a few items going to a store. I'm sure you've all seen a clerk open a plain looking gray colored box and see 1 box of something come out. A shoebox size for a 20rd box of tula ammo for instance.

What I'm saying is you might have ammo show up that you didn't see on the app do to the packaging mentioned above.
Also you might see it show up on the app again, when scanning trailer in to store's dock door, but when they scan the "factory" box UPC when unloading it, it doesn't show the inside contents correctly, so the app is updated again +/- depending and ammo not seen is then taken out of inventory on app as well.

Lots of factors at play here and should be considered. Its possible but it's not always this: "OMMA GHERD THEY'S TEKKEN OAWR AMMERNICHIN!" "THEY'S LYON TO US".
Please. I've heard this in line at the stores and outside of walmart as well.

Some stores might have a policy that they will not scan the shelf or go look for your ammo even if you say its in stock. Know why? They have better things to do and they're always running understaffed. They know you're pissed off, they don't really care, because you NEED that ammo, if don't get it at the time you want, they know you'll be back, and honestly how many of you won't shop at walmart anymore because of not getting your ammo? Probably nobody boycotts them because of it. why? We are like crack addicts who need their fix and will keep coming back regardless of whatever, just for the chance to score...

Who in their right mind wants disgruntled and pumped up people hovering around the ammo counter for hours waiting on it to come out? What clerk appreciates everyone hovering around them like a pack of dogs waiting to be fed? What clerk/manager wants a bunch of people hanging around them openly carrying or concealing their firearms? All of these questions I bet nobody has stopped to consider how it might impact/worry a clerk/manager or other customers.

Just my 2cents.

Got my 556 Sunday and a guy later bought 3 boxes of 308 and 556. He claimed he talked to the manager ..he was buying from guess who? A manager. That's pretty messed up. My fil was planning on getting 308 as well until that happened.

I reckon I'm nobody, as I will not go to any walmart other than Clinton, TN for ammunition. The app is almost completely worthless in East TN as the stores consistently refuse to check stock. All you can do is show up at 7AM and hope for the best.

I ain't playing.

I have better things to do with my days than get up at 5AM in the hope that a walmart might have ammo coming in. I have enough Winchester Super-X I picked up off of individuals at the Sparta gun show a couple weeks ago to keep me going at least til August. When I run low, I will head to another out-of-the-way gun show and buy boxes of 50 or a sleeve or 2 off of private sellers at @ .10/round. Next time I buy ammo from a walmart it will be a simple matter of walking in the door and buying a sleeve of Super-X like I would buy a 2 liter pop.

Took my son out for driving lessons tonight and just for gits and shiggles checked the wallyworld we were driving by and what do you know. Federal 9mm 50s and winchester 9mm 100s showed in stock..

Asked the guy working in sporting goods to check and he comes out with two cases of federal and winchester 9mm for me to pillage and I can only get 3 boxes....

Apps always right if the employees dont play games!

Saw "in Stock" on the Win 555's at a local WM. It was 8 pm and I figured that by the time I got there, it would be all gone so I didn't go. The next night ( last night) I checked the app again, sure enough "In Stock" at the same store. It was on my way to an errand I had to run so I went by. I asked the clerk behind the counter if he had .22 lr and he laughed and said he hadn't seen any in weeks. He said it was strange that the app showed it in the store as he thought the app was pretty accurate most of the time. He said they were unloading a truck as we spoke so he would go look. He came back and said, no ammo. Said he still thought it strange that the app was showing in stock. He began opening doors and drawers behind the counter and lo and behold, he comes up with 6 boxes from a locked drawer that he says is not supposed to be locked. He was really angry that someone was hiding stock. He sold me my 3 boxes and was on the way to see the manager as I left.

So it looks like something is a changin with the Wal Mart app in my area. Prices have went up slightly on several items and instead of showing In Stock everything has went to "inventory stock unavailable".

I guess thats the new term for "In Stock"? Or did they kill the ammo listings on the app?

I think they've killed the inventory app. No store in my area has had anything come in for one week. Not sure what to make if this.

Same here...If they killed the app they better get ready to hire someone to answer the phone 24-7 in sporting goods.

I have been using the app to find 22 ammo with regularity my wife and I both shoot .22 pistols in a league. my wife uses the model 41 which is very picky about ammo it seems to like CCI the best. I have noticed the change in the app I certainly hope they do not kill it as far as ammunition in stock goes.
