Well, that's unfortunate. I've never had any negative issues with mine. Maybe in 100 years it'll be a collector's item....

i did not like the original BG. Bought and sold it maybe a month later. We have a few at the shop and sales are slow. The 2.0 BG sells very well and is a HUGE difference from the original.

That's a shame. Very happy with mine. If I ever need another I'm sure there will be used ones out there.
I carry mine frequently, the size and discretion are huge benefits and I like the long, DAO trigger and concealed hammer.

I would never buy the 2.0 because the 1.0 was exactly what I was looking for when I purchased it 10 years ago. I feel the same way today.

I shan't miss it. I tried to dry fire one once. With my skinny hands and long fingers, it moved all over the place before the hammer dropped. The trigger pull covered a couple of zip codes.

Not surprising that they are sacrificing safety for tacticoolness.
Safety between the two models is the responsibility of the owner.
I guess they don't see much sense in competing with themselves. Two guns. Same niche market.

If Smith hadn't produced the 2.0, I could have been entirely content with the original. Wanted something LCP sized, but much more shootable, with decent sights. The double action was no big deal for a DA revolver shooter, and TruGlos made the decent sights into great sights. Have two good ones, and one that wasn't reliable. . Between the long trigger, hammer full down at rest, and firing pin block...safest small pistol, ever.
And then they came out with the 2.0....which holds more,and is easier to shoot, better ergos. Jury is still out on changing the sights; have the BG1.0 rears on both of mine.

My wife bought the Body Guard 380. Her finger got cramped up on the range from squeezing the long and heavy trigger pull. I traded her my Taurus 380 for it. She loves that gun. I installed a Santiago trigger kit on the BG which helped a bit with the stiff trigger. But it's still a hard pull. It's my every day carry weapon and I'm comfortable with it. In a gunfight, I'm sure the adrenaline rush will reduce the trigger pull to negligible. Perhaps I should look at the 2.0 someday.

Now they need to get rid of the Bodyguard 38 Special revolver which does not always advance the cylinder when the trigger is pulled. They cannot fix it and to some extent do not even admit a problem even though videographers have displayed the problem.Apparently just dropped today on the website:

Had a M&P Bodyguard 1.0 with built in red laser, TruGloTritium Night Sights, and it served me well for 10 years. After shooting the Sig P365 380, it intrigued me, so I bought one. The smooth, lighter trigger and 12+1 capacity worked well for me. After 800+ flawless rounds of range and SD ammo thru the Sig, I sold the BG 1.0. This was before the BG 2.0 was released. Still have my Shield 9 1.0 in my 3 EDC rotation and it's not going anywhere.
