While I'm sittin at the puter, I might as well fire off a question to the knowledgeable listers here.

After getting a 22-4 last year, I've developed this uncanny fascination for fixed-sighted N frames

As expected - I'm always on the lookout for a .41 in decent condition - don't expect I'll have too much of a problem tracking one down. However - I just found out ( I am new to the history aspect of S&W

that there was a small number of fixed-sighted N frame .357s made - Model 520s, I believe.

Does anyone here have info (I know - silly question

on the number made, current asking price range, and possible source for tracking one down?

TIA

(Yes - I probably will get hooked into the history aspect soon. Retirement is looming, and I need to find something to kill time

3000 of them ordered by the NYSP in 1980. They never took possesion and instead opted for the new L-frame 681.

Prices anywhere from $500-$1000 for a shooter to an unfired NIB specimen.

I have one and it is a pleasure to shoot.

Welcome to the forum!

The Model 13 was also a fixed sighted .357 in blue or nickel; look into an M65 if you would prefer the stainless version of this model.

You may also be interested in the M581 or M681 that Duke426 mentioned.

jmoore, I picked up this 520 at the local gunshow for $575 out the door. It is unfired. Gun came with no box and the wrong grips.

The tapered barrel fixed sight Model 520 is very attractive, in a businesslike manner. It should have been way more popular than it was.

I was in a hurry yesterday, but I stopped by my local gun shop and saw a model 520 w/box. He was asking $850 and I'm guessing it was 90 % or more I didn't ask to pull it out since I was in a rush. Maybe I should go back and see if it still there, I didn't realize that there where only 3000 made.
