Old Guy With An Old Gun

When I started helping run the range for the HR 218 qualification about a third of the retired officers used revolvers. The last time there were no revolvers. If we have time then we shoot the course for fun. I use a two inch Model 10 which was given to me by a woman who was a friend of my Dads who worked for the Colorado Springs PD before women could be police officers. She had some great stories.

Congratulations Sir!
I get a kick out of inviting some youngster to the range and wiping their eye. I am almost 76. I really enjoy it when we invite someone that has been running their mouth, and my wife out shoots them.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, a revolver, so weilded by a competent user, gives up NOTHING to a semi-auto wonder 9 plastic fantastic bucket of bullets bottom feeding tupperware. Guys that can shoot (like the OP) know this as a fact, and those that would stick there nose up at the venerable revolver for defense or duty work of ALL kinds, are more often than not covering for their own lack of ability or knowledge.

This is my M64 that sits at the bedside ready:

Again, wheelguns give up NOTHING to autos, and have tremendous advantages in reliability and safety. Those that put down revolvers would be benefitted from proper instruction and marksmanship training as well as reloading drills. Once learned, you will wonder why you ever looked down on them in the first place!

I would contact Glock Customer Service

I gave it away. Never really liked it anyway.

I really dislike something brand new that doesn't work.

I had two good friends who love Glocks tear it down, clean and lube it and it never improved.

I have a M&P .45, a little bigger gun and I love it.

Several hundred rounds and its never missed a beat and (kind of embarrassed to say) its never been cleaned. I got it new in the box, loaded it and took it out, shot it and love it.

Good for you, Jimmy!! Just goes to prove that you can always count on a good revolver.

Several years ago, when I was living in California, I was going through my CCW qualifications. The rest of the class were much younger than I was and were all using semi-autos. Some did okay. Others were struggling with the semi-autos.

There was an old guy there helping the main instructor. After I qualified with my revolver, the old guy said in a very complementary way, "I knew you were a wheel gun man just by lookin' at you."

Like I said, just goes to prove you can always count on a good revolver.:)

Great story Jimmy, thanks for sharing it with us and showing them youngsters that old isn't out of style.
